Handypersons and Helpers Needed!
The Home Medic is a home improvement and remodeling service located in Abilene, TX. We serve the areas of Abilene, Stephenville, and Brownwood. We are busy and looking for good help. We currently have work booked through August.
We are seeking to establish a list of candidates for the position of Helper or Home Improvement Technician (Handyperson). Both positions are involved the performance of home repairs, improvements, and remodeling. We are growing and offer the ability to move up in the company and eventually run your own jobs/crew after demonstrating high quality and leadership!
Helper Duties/Qualifications:
No experience necessary - will receive on-the-job training. Works under the supervision of an experienced contractor or foreman. Receives training for career progression.
0-2 years of experience: $12-15/hr DOE
Duties:
- General site clean up and organization
- Carrying/stacking materials
- Assisting with painting, caulking, site preparation, installation of flooring/drywall/trim/other materials.
- Other duties as assigned
Home Improvement Technician (Handyperson) Duties/Qualifications:
Experienced with home improvement/remodeling with verifiable experience. May be allowed to work independently on smaller jobs without supervision. Will receive training as needed for career progression.
3+ years of experience: $16-20/hr DOE
Duties:
- Painting, caulking, and drywall repairs.
- Installing products such as: TVs (variety of surfaces), ceiling fans/light fixtures, window AC units, etc.
- Assembling furniture and other kit-type products
- Assist contractors during remodels, when assigned
- General site clean up and organization.
- Assist in supervision of Helpers.
- Communicate with customers in a professional and respectful manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements for Technician Level:
- Verifiable work history of 3+ years in home improvement/remodeling industry
- Own a reliable cellphone with internet service
- Own an insured truck, van, or SUV
- Possess a complete set of basic tools: hammer drill/driver, impact driver, circular saw, reciprocating saw, oscillating (multi) tool, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, tape measure, marking utensils, level, stud finder, etc.
- Additional tools preferred and required for future advancement.
General Qualifications:
- 18 or older
- Background suitable for residential work
- Drug free
- Good attitude and willing to work
- Receives direction and critique well
- Can show up and give a full days work
- Reliable transportation or the ability to be ready for pick up if you live near by (Abilene Mall area).
- Having your own basic hand/power tools is preferred for helpers and required for technicians. Basic tools will be provided to Helpers until you can get your own.
- Some overnight travel is required for < 10% of projects - lodging and per diem provided.
