There is at least one day every year where my mind/hand coordination feels off, and I somehow convinced myself that I’m a fraud and terrible at grafting and none of my grafts this year are going to take. Then there is another day, a few weeks later, when budwood starts to push new leaves, and I remember that this is what I’m supposed to do with my life and I’m pretty good at it and I love it so much. Today is that second day.

The more mobile he becomes the less time he will tolerate being in the stroller while I work in the greenhouse. A little independent play time, perhaps? There was gravel in his mouth within 30 seconds. Follow for more naive parenting strategies 😅

More of what will be available Saturday from 1-4 at Sweetbay Brewing Company! Agastache ‘Blue Fortune’, Cercidiphyllum japonicum or Katsura tree, Bald Cypress (my favorite plant), Dwarf Papyrus, Crocosmia (they put on a big show outside the Barter Theater), Agastache ‘Queen Nectarine’, Paw Paw I grew from seed that was wild collected at a friends property nearby, Variegated Pink Lemon, Pineapple Sage, and finally, Phlox ‘Fashionably Early Crystal’. All of these pictures are from the greenhouse or my yard so I’m happy to talk about how to care for these babies after they go home with you 💚

I’m starting to pull together the plants I’ll have for y’all at Sweetbay Brewing Company this Saturday. A couple varieties of Heuchera, Astilbe ‘Pumila’, Carex ‘Featehr Falls’, A weeping gold leaf redbud I adore called ‘Golden Falls’, and garlic chives! Grown for the flower and because it’s what makes ranch dressing taste like ranch dressing 😁. I only sell the plants I love to grow so come chat with me about gardening with these plants over a beer on Saturday. More sneak peaks to come 💚

It’s time to formally introduce Budwood Farm, my dream for over a decade. Propagating plants is my passion and I’m excited to offer the trees, shrubs, annuals, and perennials I’ve fallen in love with along the way. While my ultimate goal has been to launch a mail-order nursery, I am now slow burning on that goal in exchange for more time to be the best mom for my Jack and the best brewery co-owner for my husband Patrick Atkins.

For now, the focus is building inventory, doing some contract propagation, and preparing for a pop up sale Brewing Company. I’ll keep you posted on that and the plants that I’ll have to offer 💚
