❄️ Is your AC line covered in ice?
A lot of homeowners see ice on the copper line and think:
👉 "Maybe I just need new insulation."
Unfortunately, that's usually NOT the problem.
If your AC is freezing up, the most common causes are:
🌪️ Poor airflow
❌ Dirty air filter
❌ Dirty evaporator coil
❌ Blower motor issues
💨 Refrigerant problems
❌ Low refrigerant charge
❌ Refrigerant leak
❌ Refrigerant restriction
Here's the important part:
⚠️ Ice on the outdoor line usually means the indoor coil is frozen too.
When that happens:
❌ Cooling performance drops
❌ Energy bills increase
❌ Compressor damage becomes possible
What should you do?
✅ Turn cooling OFF
✅ Run FAN ONLY mode
✅ Let the system thaw completely
Then have the system properly diagnosed.
Adding refrigerant without finding the cause is not a repair.
Adding insulation alone is not a repair.
The goal is to find the ROOT problem.
