It's Friday, interior designers. Be honest.👇

What flavor of business owner meltdown are we having today?

The Chronic Firefighter: You haven't worked ON your business all week because you've been too busy putting out fires IN it.

The Marketing Ghost: You post consistently when business is slow and disappear the second you get busy.

The Busy but Still Broke Designer: Your calendar is full, your inbox is overflowing, and somehow the numbers still aren't adding up.

The Delegation Disaster: You did everything yourself this week because "it's just faster if I do it."

First of all, take a deep breath. You're not alone. Running a design firm is a LOT, and sometimes laughing about it is the only thing keeping us sane.

So, which one are you this Friday? Drop your emoji in the comments!

And if you see your design bestie in one of these, you know what to do. 😉

Your leads aren't necessarily ghosting you. They might just need a little more connection.

A couple of years ago, a potential client would reach out, book that first appointment, and you were off to the races.

Today? It can take a little longer.

And I don't think it's because clients are less interested. They're making big decisions with a lot of money, and they want more reassurance, more information, and more connection before they're ready to commit.

That's why you can't just wait for clients to figure out the next step. You have to LEAD them through it.

A thoughtful sales process does exactly that. It helps potential clients feel supported while keeping good leads from slipping through the cracks.

🎧 In this episode # 248 of Designed for the Creative Mind, I'm sharing how to build a sales process that guides clients from their first inquiry to that first appointment—and beyond.

One of the easiest ways to improve your interior design client experience? Make the next step obvious.

Clients shouldn't have to wonder what happens after they sign your contract, when they need to make a decision, or whether anyone is handling an unexpected project issue.

A few simple processes can eliminate a lot of unnecessary uncertainty:
•Outline the next steps after every major milestone.
•Set expectations for communication at the beginning of the project.
•Recap decisions and responsibilities after meetings.
•Communicate proactively when timelines or plans change.
•Close every project with a thoughtful offboarding process.

These aren't flashy changes, but they help clients feel confident that their project is in good hands.

And when your firm is growing, documented processes help your team deliver that same confidence consistently.

Your goal isn't to communicate more just for the sake of communicating. It's to make the entire experience easier for your clients.

If you are struggling with any of these communication points, we should chat.

Your clients are overwhelmed. You're overwhelmed. And that might be changing the way people hire interior designers.

Between the notifications, emails, texts, and endless decisions competing for everyone's attention, today's clients may need more reassurance, more information, and more connection before they're ready to commit.

And that's where your sales process comes in.

Your job isn't to wait for clients to figure out how to work with you. It's to lead them through the process.

In the latest episode #248 of Designed for the Creative Mind, I'm walking you through the front door of your business and sharing why a thoughtful, luxury sales process matters more than ever.

You finally get those projects rolling in… and suddenly marketing is the LAST thing on your mind. 🙃

The website updates stop. The blogs get pushed off. The emails never get sent.

And then, a few months later, your pipeline is looking a little too quiet, and you're back to scrambling for new clients.

Sound familiar? It's what I call the busy season blackout. And it's a cycle so many interior designers get caught in (myself included!).

The problem? Marketing you do today doesn't necessarily bring in clients tomorrow. So when you stop marketing because you're busy, you may not feel the consequences until it's too late.

In the latest episode of Designed for the Creative Mind, we're walking through the front door of your business: marketing. Tune in to learn how to break the cycle and build a marketing rhythm that keeps working even when your calendar is full.

You wanted to design beautiful spaces.

Nobody told you that you'd also become a shipment detective, a full-time reminder service, and the keeper of every single project detail. 😂

Your clients deserve an exceptional experience.

But delivering one shouldn't require you to be involved in every email, every decision, and every tiny detail.

As your interior design firm grows, your systems need to grow with it.

Because the goal isn't just to make your clients happy. It's to build a business that consistently delivers an incredible experience without depending on you to do absolutely everything.

We’re breaking down what clients actually remember about working with you—and how to create an experience that earns trust, builds loyalty, and inspires referrals.

What if the client you need right now doesn’t look anything like the client you ultimately want to work with?

You want the $100K whole-home project.

But right now, the $15K project is what pays the bills.

You want a portfolio full of beautiful, high-end work.

But you don’t have 20 luxury projects sitting in your camera roll.

You want to position yourself as the designer you’re becoming.

But you also need to say YES to the work that keeps your business moving.

Here’s the good news: You don’t have to choose.

Your ideal client should shape your marketing—but that doesn’t mean you have to turn away every other opportunity.

There’s a way to:
→ Market toward the clients you ultimately want
→ Make your smaller or lower-ticket offers easy to find without making them your brand
→ Take the projects you need without letting them define your positioning
→ Turn today’s projects into content, expertise, referrals and future opportunities
→ Deliver an exceptional experience at any project size

That’s exactly what we’re digging into in this month’s Lead Lab: The Client You Want vs. The Client You Need.

We think every designer needs this to we are offering this as a one-time standalone training, so you don’t have to be a Lead Lab member to join us.

You’ll leave with the tools to help you put the strategy into practice. Because what good is information if we don't put it into practice?

Your current projects can help fund the business you have today…while your marketing builds the business you want tomorrow.

Join us for the session. Link is in the comments.

Full episode #246 available where you catch your podcasts.

Delegation doesn’t mean handing someone a task and expecting them to do it exactly the way you would.

And it doesn’t mean disappearing and hoping everything works out.

The goal is to create enough structure that your team can make good decisions confidently—and enough communication that you’re not surprised when something consequential happens.

Truth that may hurt -- you cannot grow your firm into the strength of your people if you treat every difference between you and them as a defect.

Your team may approach something differently than you would.

That doesn’t automatically mean they’re wrong.

If the client experience is strong, the project is protected, the standard is met, and the business is moving forward, they don’t have to replicate your brain to be successful.

That’s the real work of delegation:
Clear standards.
Clear authority.
Clear checkpoints.
And enough trust to let capable people actually own their work.

The goal isn’t constant supervision.

It’s creating a business that doesn’t need you to make every decision.
