Beyond the hanger - hanging baskets offer instant impact and stunning drape in large containers. We love them on a hook but often use them to fill out containers - especially large ones!

These sweet ‘Reliance’ peach trees just landed in time for Mother’s Day. This peach tree was bred to withstand our harsh winters. Self-pollinating with medium sized freestone fruits. Yellow skin with a red blush and sweet juicy yellow flesh ripening midsummer.

A pocket of Trillium in a sea of bluebells A few years ago we started adding more spring ephemerals to the woodland garden. Mostly planting bare root in the fall and so it is joyful to see the plants show themselves a at all but even more so to see them multiply and flower. Visit us 10-4 today and tomorrow or Sunday 12-4 and walk through the garden while you are here.

Any fellow gardeners feeling this crispy weather, covering their tender annuals, and pulling in their tropicals? We are! Not only our own but all those across the plant yard and deck so that when you buy them from Horta Culture for your lovely home and garden, they will show their very best.

Hold fast! We are nearly there and starting this week, as we all look forward and lean into Mother’s Day and the warmer nights to come, we have opened our Spring Hours to stretch 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Wednesday through Saturday and 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday — so count on those to hatch your plans to fill up on plants to get them in the ground and watch your gardens grow to the spaces you dream they could become.

We look forward to visiting with you and to hear all about all your plans. With many thanks from all 🌿

Anyone in need of experiencing the power of hope that starting seeds offers? We are hosting a potless seed starting workshop this weekend and there are still a few spots left. I’ll provide you with the k sledge, skills and materials to use a Ladbrooke soil blockers to start seeds. It is an efficient and sustainable method for starting seeds that also is beneficial for the seedlings. Check out the event on our website for more information and to register.

These past seven or so weeks have felt like an eternity here in Minnesota. We are in company with some of the most compassionate, moral, intelligent, and determined people all picking up the roles they can to support the community and values we hold dear. While the occupation seems to be shifting, it doesn’t appear to be waning and it is evident that the needs will persist and we will need sustained funding and support. This also means supporting our nervous systems so we can continue on.

We know that touching soil helps shift our bodies from the sympathetic (fight or flight) into the parasympathetic (rest and digest) mode which reduces our stress levels. Last weekend I guided a group through planting winter bulb gardens and despite the gravity of the news, these moments with hands in soil felt restorative, energizing, hopeful. I want to offer that momentary respite to others.

This weekend we will break our winter hibernation on Sunday from 12-4. I’ll have all of the materials here to plant up some winter bulb gardens and warm tea to warm body and spirit. The modest fee of $18 will cover materials but all profits will be donated to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota - feel free to round up if you have the means and interest.

For those who would like to donate items or offer rent assistance to support families in our community that are sheltering place, please stop by Memorial Lutheran Church on Sunday from 1-3. Learn more about the Kindness in Action event through the link in our bio.
