Earlier this week JGWA team members were on site at Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial located on Put-In-Bay in Ohio. With a short construction season due to the island location, the Upper and Lower Plaza rehabilitations are full steam ahead this summer.

While the Plazas, Rotunda, and Observation Deck of the Memorial are closed during construction, the visitor center and grounds will remain open.

History came alive last weekend at the Mandeville House in Garrison, NY. A community event in collaboration with the Desmond-Fish Public Library, Putnam County, PMDC Group, and trustees of Mandeville House celebrated and brought Hearts of Oak Revolutionary Reenactors and storytellers to the historic house.

The Mandeville House played an important role in the Revolutionary War, hosting General George Washington and serving as the headquarters of General Israel Putnam.

JGWA is currently preparing a building conditions study for the Mandeville House which will help guide the future preservation of this important structure in American history.

JGWA staff outing today at the Brimfield Antique Shows!! We enjoyed exploring the vendor booths, scoring some good finds to decorate our homes and offices, and eating yummy treats - especially once the sun came out this afternoon ☀️

It was a great excursion and a fun way to get staff from Albany and NYC together for a day out of the office.

JGWA staff were on-site earlier this week at Shenandoah National Park to conduct a final inspection and develop a punch list for the construction effort at the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center ahead of yesterday's visit by King Charles.

The Visitor Center was a primary stop on the US tour where King Charles III visited the map room, met a bald eagle 🦅, witnessed a Junior Ranger swearing-in ceremony, and met with Monacan Indian Nation leaders.

Jack, Nancy, Shannon, and Jeremy recently had the pleasure of visiting the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center on a trip to Asheville, North Carolina.

The museum's mission is to preserve and continue the legacy of educational and artistic innovation of Black Mountain College (BMC). The faculty and staff at BMC, influenced by the Bauhaus school in Germany, had an extraordinary impact on modern and contemporary art, dance, theater, music, and performance.

We would like to thank the museum and Black Mountain College Studies Building Foundation for being such wonderful hosts.
