❤️☀️Meet Me in the Mum Patch☀️❤️

In this season of life, I plant seeds and water things…real seeds, and real plants…but also other kinds of seeds and other kinds of things. If you are here for plants, you’ll find plants…if you are here for more, I hope you’ll find more❤️🌱

I wanted to share this devotional this morning…it’s one of my favorite songs. It’s the one Luke stops by the piano to play by memory when he is walking past or when he first sits down…and I stop where I am, and sing…and remember. I share these things out of the brokenness and healing in my own life by the Lord…and from what “seeds” have been planted in me and watered by the Lord and others in my life who have walked with me and are walking with me.

As the sun topped the trees and I stood watering the mums, this devotion came by text. I get them each weekday morning…and this morning’s devotional was so wonderful and so needed. I listened and sang and felt so watered by the Lord. I pray it ministers to you as it has me today💦❤️

Remember these beauties! And that beautiful smile and face that planted them? Well, this lot is ready! I see blooms and great roots, so they are ready for the ground 🙌❤️ Message me if you’d like any to plant now. I have another group coming in behind it that the Kingdom Camp kids planted, but they need another month or so. They are so happy and healthy!

These make me smile. I planted them in the little annual section of our flower beds. I will say, first, that I sure do love perennials…they come back every year, and I CAN HARDLY CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT when I see those green shoots start to emerge 🌱🤣❤️ That’s the focus here in our little plant nursery…BUT, there is a beautiful place for annuals. These are some annuals that looked some kind of a mess during the middle of summer…ones I had left over and didn’t toss or share with the kids in camp…so, I planted them. These dahlias, yall!! I walk by them and just stop…and behold their beauty. These vinca are rockstars…I planted them all in the dead heat of the summer…watered them and kept an eye on them those first few weeks, and now look!! I’m posting so I can go back to this next year and show you if you want to have a little places where you want color and fullness all summer in and around the perennials in your gardens. The boys got the pond back in working order after a feral little boy played in the other one searching for frogs and eggs and punched a hole in the liner🫣🤣🐸 I hope your plants are all growing and have brought you joy this year!! ❤️🌱

It was a beautiful sunrise watering the mums this morning ❤️🍁 They are growing so beautifully and even the ones that got injured are growing and thriving and healing nicely. I love growing mums. They’ve enjoyed all of this later evening rain water…and I have, too! The first ones to bloom are ones I got that bloom mid to late September. In the next few weeks, I should start seeing some buds and soon after that, bursts of blooms! I plan to open back up, softly, after Sean is back in school and that’s right after Labor Day. We will start pulling perennials out from their places of rest under the trees and the babies and get them in easier and accessible places. Although…I will say that those who have visited later spring and over the summer have LOVED rummaging through the chaos back there looking for plants. I laughed so hard every time someone meandered back there…like, “I have this part all set up nice and pretty, but you’re back there finding your treasures 🤣!” It is fun. There are SO many plants stuffed in SO many places.

I’ll be updating as we go over the next weeks. Fall flowers like pansies, snapdragons, and such will be later September, early October when the grower has those ready. I’ll be looking forward to seeing you as the weather starts to cool, and we move into the “rest” of fall and winter🍁❤️

🌱Seeds, seeds, and more seeds🌱🙌 Denea came to help this morning and she was so giddy excited to be planting seeds! She said, “This feels like camp!” She had never done that before…used little tweezers to plant each one carefully in its little place. I know she will be more excited to watch them grow!

We are trying to add more natives to our nursery…today we planted swamp milkweed, common milkweed, Ironweed, dense blazing star, “Dwarf Lance” coreopsis, Joe Pye W**d, and lots of other awesome perennial plants! Lord willing, they will grow, and I’ll figure out how to take care of them, and have them for you in another season ❤️🌱 always planting a season ahead…and that’s a place I’m really having to “grow” in having lived most of my life in “11th hour” moments and planning…or lack of planning 🤣

A child at camp planted a whole tray of “SEEDS”…yes, just “seeds.” Had to laugh, or cry, or both 🤣😭 I have NO idea what kind of seeds…and some labels are just the name of the plant and there were four packs of that same plant in different varieties and colors…SO there will be some mystery plants next year, too. That will be fun! I’m so proud of their work, yall…even with the bloopers. They loved it! And some are starting to sprout! How exciting! Mrs. Brenda felt like me with the bread, “Will it rise?” It did! “Will they grow?” Yes!! 🌱❤️

Kingdom Camp 2026 ended with so many smiles and some sweaty and dirty faces yesterday ❤️ Kids loaded up in their cars with their Bibles, plants, flower bouquets, and jars of salsa. I’ve loved getting messages and hearing the reports today asking for recipes, and how they’ve shared with family members and friends and loved it! It really is so great and so delicious. Anyone who wants to learn how to make the sourdough or salsa, send me a message…I’d love to help you!

We had a special time together to start the morning. It was on my heart to talk about the Passover and talk about communion. So that’s what we talked about and that’s what we shared…Exodus 12 and Luke 22. We listened to the song that’s on repeat on my phone and TV these days, “The Blood”…”when my shame hit the wayside and my sin met the most High…I was washed from the inside…” gets me every time. They need to know that…how significant and necessary the death of Jesus was, what it meant, and how we have life now through His shed blood and His resurrection. Just like they received the gift of their Bibles, they receive the gift of salvation. Eternal seeds❤️🌱

They got their favorite snack of worms and dirt and we headed outside to plant some real seeds! And plants! Mrs. Jennifer finished leading the charge to plant all the babies. She is such a great leader! Those kids worked so hard and I’m so proud of all of them. They love planting plants so much!

Mrs. Brenda and her crew used the homemade seed starting mix and made some more plug trays. The kids planted more seeds…and more seeds…and more seeds! I went out there earlier to check and I saw the first two little sprouts!! Yay!!

Jake came and set up the misting system to make it easy to water the seedlings. The kids LOVED that!! Look at all those wet and happy faces 🤣💦 He had a little lesson with the kids about the fruits of the spirit and planting good things in your life that will grow🌱 It was great.

The kids picked from the flowers that grew from last year’s seed and some that Sean and I planted. I didn’t get to have the “Kid Pick” section this year, and I’ve missed it…but these kids got to pick and loved it. I loved watching them search for their flowers and arrange them in their cups. One little girl made a special arrangement for her sister who goes to college next week. It was so precious.

I left yesterday exhausted physically, but so refreshed and so full of all the things…such joy, contentment, such fulfillment in the fruit I see from this obedience, gratitude…and a feeling of relief that I (and all the ones who have helped and participated) finished the work this summer well. It’s a wonderful feeling of thankfulness…and I am so thankful.

Yesterday morning when I was with those kids it felt like, “Yes! This is the reason for all of it.” Thank you, Lord, for all of it❤️🌱

Day 2 making salsa was a success! It’s always a little crazy in the kitchen with so many enthusiastic helpers, but help they did in working together to create something delicious from these garden vegetables 🙌❤️😋

They each had a job and the littles had bigger helpers to help them. They peeled and cut and used the Ninja to chop the veggies to add to the big pot. From the smallest job to the biggest job, they learned the order and the importance of every one. Wyatt took one for the group and prepared the onions. The last cut of the last onion and his eyes were a weeping. I handled the jalepenos and thought I had made it through with no burning until there was still some on my finger later and I rubbed my eye. That wasn’t fun😭 I digress…

They will each take a jar home tomorrow to enjoy with their families. I think they are enjoying sharing…they joyfully shared about their bread baking and some bloopers…”but it was still good even if it was a little mushy.” So said one…I accidentally got smaller pans so we had to try to make that work. They did great!

Mrs. Brenda taught them how to can and preserve the salsa. She made it look so easy and everyone stayed safe…free from cuts and burns…so whew!! Success!!

That took a lot of the morning, but we did still have time for some planting, hide and seek, and learning how to make our own seed starting mix🙌🌱

We have one more day together tomorrow❤️ we did get to spend the first part of the morning finding verses in their Bibles about who God says they are…important, unique, bright, gifted, fearless, beloved, hopeful, precious, joyful…were just a few we talked about. With so many voices competing with His, it was good for their fingers to be searching those pages and reading what’s true about them. Excited to see everyone again tomorrow!

What a FULL first day of our last Kingdom Camp for 2026 🙌🌱🍞❤️

Today was bread day! The kids had a fun time preparing their own sourdough loaves of bread to take home and let rise and bake! I’ve already started getting pictures of risen loaves about to go in…and happy faces about to dig into their freshly baked bread!! That’s always a question and wondering every single time I send bread home with people…will it rise? So far, it always has ❤️🙌

The children learned about the “Bread of Life” and received their own Bibles to read and have…we focused on Deuteronomy 8:3…man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from God.

We had a Japanese exchange student join us. We had him an English Bible and a Bible translated in Japanese. I’ve been a little emotional as I thought about the ordering of so many steps for him to be in this house, with a sign hanging out back that says “House of Bread”, on this appointed day to bake bread and learn about Jesus. Wow y’all. He is a precious boy, and we are so blessed to spend time with him this week ❤️

Mrs. Brenda taught the kids all about seed planting and was so excited about the lesson God gave her for them. They planted almost 800 seeds! Some of you are actually enjoying plants that the Kingdom Campers planted in last year’s camp. Maybe next year you’ll have some of these that were planted this week ❤️🌱

Mrs. Jennifer led the baby plant planting session and man, she is efficient! It helps that these kids LOVE to plant🤣🌱❤️ they planted all the babies I had for them to plant for the week! It was close to 250. That’s a lot of babies. Now, to watch them grow!

Pops, Sean, and I have spent the afternoon preparing for our day tomorrow. It’s salsa day! I’ll tell you all about that tomorrow 🍅🌶️🫑🧅 It will be delicious!
