Got in some good practice today at the little alternative market across the street from the NM downtown grower market It was too breezy to put up my canopy. Sowing Spirit represented with conversations about therapeutic gardening while offering plants that I grew.
It was so awesome to sell some pollinator awesome perennials, as well as some summer favorites! I think the goth basil did the best!

Heavenly Blue Tweedia Milkweed is the only milkweed that has blue flowers! Native to South America, it is a host plant for monarchs in zones 10 and up, but will still be a nectar source to other pollinators when grown as an annual in other zones.

So excited for Spring! I've got Bluebells!
Mertensia virginica, aka Virginia Bluebells, is a North American native spring ephemeral perennial. This means that it finishes its flowering cycle before the tree leaf canopy fills in. They attract long-tongued pollinators so as to reach the nectar.

Pretty tickled to be growing Baptisia australis - Blue False Indigo!
This North American native perennial is an important support for bumble bees and other native bees.
I'm looking forward to using it's unique foliage and seed pods in floral arrangements!
The rattling of the seed pods in the wind make it an excellent feature in a sensory garden.

Peaches is helping me get ready for Sowing Spirit's first farmers market! I will be in the small parking lot just south of ABQ's Downtown Growers Market this Saturday, 4\13, from 8-12.
I'll have starter plants of purple artichokes, spicy peppers, heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, Love-lies-bleeding Amaranth and Feverfew for sale.
