Curve-billed Thrashers are omnivores, feeding on a variety of invertebrates along with fruit, seeds, and sometimes flowers such as agave blossoms. This individual is enjoying the fruit of a Woods’ rose bush---aka, appropriately, pearhip rose. Another favorite: water-rich cactus fruits, which help keep them hydrated in late spring and early summer, until the late-summer rains bring relief.

A note on field marks: This individual's red-orange eye identifies it as an adult; notice also its "wing bars," i.e., the white tips of its upperwing covert feathers. Thank you Larry Rimer for the photo.

Hmmmm. I wouldn't consider Rosemary or Lavender as weeds! But good to have positive uses for some of the others 🙂
