This is a beautiful and low maintenance small koi pond built by GM Landscapes in Albuquerque, NM. They incorporated a Savio Compact Skimmerfilter, an Aquascape 1000 Biofalls, and a ShinMaywa 1/5hp pump. They also have two small bog filters built into the pond that are planted with Pennywort and Water Celery.

Time for a Spring Cleaning? This is a great time of year to get your pond ready for a beautiful season. Some ponds can get by with a partial water change, netting out stray leaves, trimming plants, and cleaning up filters and pumps. Others may need a more extensive cleaning. Give Mud Monsters a call and we can advise you on the best way to get your pond going for Spring, or we can point you to a qualified contractor that will do it for you.

Air Pumps require periodic maintenance and repair. The diaphragm style pumps in particular will require replacement diaphragms at least every other year or you risk a blowout, so to speak. Mud Monsters offers replacement diaphragms, air filters, and rebuild kits for many brands of aerators, and we can install them for you at no extra charge!

Ever dream of having a meandering stream running through your yard, or a waterfall next to your patio, but you don't want to deal with the maintenance or even danger of have a pond or pool? Consider a pondless system for your yard. All the sights and sounds of moving water, when you want it, but without all the work and liability of an open pool of water. Sometimes called pondless, pondfree, justafalls and other names, these systems rely on a hidden reservoir to collect the water when it isn't running. These systems require very little care and can be quite spectacular. With a remote you can turn the water feature on and off, adjust how fast the water flows, and even change the lighting color. Existing ponds can often be converted to be pondless as well.

We all know that aeration in a pond is extremely helpful and important. That is why it is necessary to make sure your aeration devices are working as they should and Springtime is the perfect time to do it. Air diffusers and airstones in particular need to be replaced or rejuvenated each year. Soaking an airstone in 1 part muriatic acid to 10 parts water overnight will eat away built up deposits and often make an airstone run like new.
