*How long have you worked in the showroom industry?
I have been in the showroom industry for 23 years!
*What inspired you to work in the showroom industry?
I was working in furniture sales and it was so boring. A local showroom manager came in and I assisted her. She was so impressed that she offered me a job!
*What’s your favorite part of working in the showroom?
Selling people pretty things/seeing their home ideas come true!
*How do you stay up to date with the latest trends?
Vendor websites, magazines and social media.
*What’s one product or feature you often recommend?
Delta's Touch 2.0 for kitchen faucets! I have one at home and I love it!
*How do you approach helping customers with specific needs?
Listen carefully and take clear notes.
*Most memorable project or interaction you’ve had?
George Rohde, Norris lake home. Former president at Basco shower doors. He was a very nice man and even sent us photos of his finished home~ VIA mail!
*What advice would you give someone new to this role?
Stay Calm, smile, keep good notes and follow through!
*Current favorite display or product in the showroom?
Onyx shower kits! They genuinely sell themselves! It is a very organized vendor in all aspects.
*How do you keep the showroom visually appealing?
Daily cleaning as needed and I try to bring in at least one or two new items to showcase a year. We also try to sell all the discontinued items and move faucets around to find the right look we want.
*What sets your showroom apart from others?
Realize and take pride in being a “CAN DO” showroom. We strive to be a “destination” showroom that you can tell all of your friends about!
*What skill do you think is most important in your job?
Listening, organizational skills and willingness to search for that hard to find item is a 3-way tie!
*How do you help customers who are unsure of what they want?
Ask questions about the other feature of the room. Example: lights, cabinetry, and the general design of the home!
