Okay, I'm hoping this gets approved and I don't get hate for asking in this group. This isn't design/decor related, but I'm desperate. I need to replace my stovetop because two burners aren't functioning. I have a downdraft cooktop in my island. I figured I'd just replace that and be done - easy peasy! Well, they run anywhere from $1800 to $3000, plus installation. And that was more than I was prepared for! Then I was told to cut into my island to put in a slide-in stove/oven since they're much cheaper, and I'd get an extra oven - I would just need to install a range hood. Well, my house is two stories, and the room above my kitchen is a bedroom. There is ventilation nearby upstairs in the bathroom, and I was told they could probably route it up and out through that existing vent. I have no idea which route to take. I'm assuming, after all is said and done, it will be about the same price. This is not my forever home, so I'm not trying to make this my dream kitchen. But I do a lot of cooking and need a fully functional and reliable kitchen. If you've been in a similar situation, please give advice!!! THANK YOU!
