Another board completed. This board is made from maple. The center section is the heartwood (soft maple) and the outer edges are the sap wood (hard maple). I also inlayed some Sapele along the sides. The Sapele has a western them engraved into the wood. The board is oriented differently than most per the client due to the way they store and display their board at most times. The board has brass feet and features an “h” engraved into the top per the clients request. This board is 13”x19” and 3” thick.

These are solid walnut end grain cutting boards.
12 inches by 17 inches and 1.75 inches thick.
They have solid brass feet.

I recently completed this end grain cutting board for a client. This board is perfect for briskets and other larger cuts of meats. This board is made from walnut and features two accent lines created from Sapele wood. The board is 18 inches by 24 inches and is 2.25 inches thick. It features comfortable finger grooves, a juice groove, as well as solid brass feet. The sap wood from the walnut was used to create a beautiful pattern within the middle of the board. I also created a soft curve along the lower portion of the edge profile to create a softer look to the bulky cutting board.

The final step to completing the live edge bench. I love how this turned out. This bench was commissioned to go along with the previous moss and mushroom river pour table I completed. The client wanted a bench to go along with it. The bench legs match the table legs and the mushroom bow ties are perfect for tying the bench into the mushrooms in the table.

We have a laser engraving business as part of our woodshop. We are now offering these budget friendly end grain cutting boards through our Etsy shop. These boards are not made by us but we do add feet to all of them and engrave them with your favorite school or sports team artwork. We have 3 different sizes available as well as three different breeds of wood available. Again, we do not personally make these boards, we just add the feet and engrave them. Mushroom shaped bow ties. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone else do this. The mushroom bow ties will help tie this bench into the table that has real mushrooms in the epoxy.

Live edge bench is sanded to a smooth finish and edge profile is complete. After a few hours of sanding and then hitting the edges with a couple different router bits, I now have this bench ready for the next stage in its build.
