Your pool is losing water. But is it a leak, or just evaporation? Here's how to tell.

The Bucket Test:
1. Fill a bucket with pool water and set it on a pool step
2. Using a pencil, mark the water level inside the bucket AND on the pool wall
3. Leave it 24 hours (no swimming, no backwashing)
4. Compare the two levels

Same drop = normal evaporation. Pool dropped more = likely a leak.

Central Louisiana summers can pull as much as 1–2 inches per week just from evaporation, so don't panic. But if it's consistently more than that, it's time to call.
