One of my favorite things about markets like Lucketts isn’t finding a perfectly styled room.
It’s finding the pieces that become part of a home over time.

The slightly worn stool.
The faded quilt.
The lamp with a little too much personality.
The tiny painting no one else notices.

Those are the pieces that create warmth, layering, and the feeling that a home has been lived in and loved for years.

This year I’m especially hunting for:
• vintage quilts
• masculine grounding textures
• small accent furniture
• framed art
• and useful beautiful objects that make everyday life feel a little more thoughtful

The goal is never to make a home feel trendy.
It’s to make it feel collected.

If you were headed to Lucketts this weekend, what would be on your list?

One thing I’ve been thinking about lately as our home continues evolving is how important balance is in creating warmth and a touch of masculinity (which my husband is grateful for!)

For a long time, I naturally gravitated toward lighter tones, softness, florals, and feminine touches.

But recently, I’ve found myself being drawn into English Country books & magazines and craving more grounded elements that bring depth to a room like darker wood tones, woven textures, vintage pieces with weight and character, and fabrics that read more geometric and abstract, lending to a more layered cottage feel.

Rooms that feel the warmest & most lived in usually aren’t overly feminine or overly minimal.
They have a balance of
- Softness + structure.
- Lightness + depth.
- Collected pieces layered slowly over time.

This is honestly one of my favorite parts of the design process- the natural evolution that happens as a home begins reflecting its inhabitants. We’ve been living in homes together for 5 and a half years, going from combining his and hers styles to developing a style of OUR own!

This is also exactly why I’m so excited to be living in Mt Vernon, home of English and American antiques and helping homeowners in this neighborhood to create more personalized, layered homes!

Not to completely change the feeling of your home, just to deepen it.

Most bathroom renovations don’t start with a contractor.
They start here, on Instagram or Pinterest, saving beautiful spaces and thinking: “I want this.”

But what isn’t shown is everything behind that image:
• What did that layout require structurally?
• What was the actual investment to achieve it?
• Are those materials practical for your lifestyle?
• And can your space even support that design?
This is where most people get stuck.

Without clear direction, you’re left trying to make dozens of decisions while hoping it all comes together in the end.

This is where we come in.
Before anything is ordered or built, we define:
• what your space can become
• where to invest (and where not to)
• how to create a cohesive, realistic plan

So when it’s time to bring in a contractor,
there’s no guesswork, just clear, intentional design direction.

A beautiful bathroom isn’t just about inspiration.
It’s about ex*****on.

“They all look the same to me…”

I hear this all the time—and honestly, it makes sense.
When you’re looking at dozens of options, the differences feel almost invisible.

But those small differences?
They’re what separate a room that feels “fine” from one that’s beautiful.

This is my role in the process: filter, refine, and edit, so you don’t have to second guess every decision.

Because overwhelm doesn’t create good design.
And because pretty has standards, and we’re keeping them.

Pretty has standards—and we’re keeping them.xx, Bleu Bee

Most people think design starts with picking furniture, but it doesn’t.
It starts with defining.

Before we source a single piece, we take the time to understand:
• how you live day-to-day
• what’s currently not working
• what your home should feel like
• and how to translate your preferences into something cohesive and visible

Without clarity, every decision will feel overwhelming and inconsistent, creating chaos not defining direction.

This phase is where we actively build your trust- trust that we listened and understood your needs, budget and desires.
It may not be the most visible part of design—but it’s the foundation for everything that follows.
