I will be at the Polk City Farmers Market today from 4-7. I’ll have some tomatoes and peppers ($4 each, cheaper and bigger than any you’ll find at the big box stores), and some crafts. Because the girls have a school event this evening I’ll also be selling Sweet Alchemy candy for them. It’s supposed to be a gorgeous day!

Veggies have been potted up! I will have three varieties of tomatoes (Roma, Beefsteak and Rutgers) and three varieties of peppers (Bell, Anaheim and Jalapeno) available for sale in May. Looking outside at the weather makes me hope that nobody jumped the gun on planting outside....this is why it's important to wait until the last frost date for your area. For Ankeny, IA it is April 29th this year.

Apparently it is National Gardening Day! It was an appropriate day to begin potting up my peppers and tomatoes. Pictured is my potting shed…my happy place. It needs a good cleaning, but when I’m in here I know Spring is here.
