🌿We're kicking off another beautiful week! Sure, it's a little chilly this morning, but honestly, cool summer mornings are kind of a gift. Grab that sweatshirt, run your errands, tend to your gardens, and enjoy getting things done before the heat arrives again!
A few fun reminders for the week:
🏮 Lantern Festival Photo Contest Tomorrow (Tuesday, June 16) we'll be drawing our winner! If you visited our lantern at the John Ball Zoo Lantern Festival and snapped a picture, be sure to send it to us for your chance to win something special!
🦕 Help Name Our New Friends! If you caught yesterday's post, you know we've welcomed some new crew members to the greenhouse! From delightfully tall dinosaurs to one rather cranky-looking crocodile, they're settling in nicely.
Now they need names!
Drop your name suggestions under their photos and help us decide. We'll reveal the official names on Thursday!

🌧️🌿 Storms on the Horizon again for tonight. Let's Talk Plant Protection! 🌿🌧️
While our gardens absolutely love a good rain shower, heavy downpours and strong winds can sometimes leave our plants looking a little worse for wear.
Before the next storm blows through, here are a few quick tips to help keep your plants happy and healthy:
🌸 Move hanging baskets and lightweight containers to a sheltered area if possible. Strong winds can dry them out, tip them over, or even send them flying.
🌿 Stake taller plants like tomatoes, delphiniums, and other top-heavy bloomers. A little extra support now can prevent broken stems later.
💧 Check drainage around containers. Too much standing water can be just as harmful as not enough. Make sure pots can drain freely.
🌺 Deadhead damaged blooms after the storm. This helps plants redirect their energy toward new growth and fresh flowers.
The good news? Most established plants are tougher than they look, and a good soaking rain is often just what they need to thrive through summer. ☀️
After the storm passes, take a stroll through your garden, assess any damage, and give your plants a little TLC. They'll thank you with plenty of blooms and growth in the weeks ahead.
