Alwerdts Gardens We are a unique Destination Garden Center established in 1988, located just south of Altamont, IL We have the largest selection of plants in Central Illinois.

Our goal is to provide our customers with the best possible plant material, hardscape and landscape supplies, products, gifts, gift certificates and landscaping services. We strive to educate our customers so that they can be successful gardeners.

Sunday closed

Tomorrow (Friday May 29th) is the last day open until 5. Saturday (30th) last Saturday open until 4.
Sunday (31st) last Sunday open for the 2026 season.

Can we take a moment to talk about AI generated photos? If you’ve seen pictures like these, you know what we’re talking about.

We’ve taken calls already this year about rainbow colored hostas & we have to get this into the minds of all plant lovers - THESE ARE NOT REAL!

🟩🟦🟨⬜️Hosta come in colors/shades & variegations using green, blue, yellow & white. If you see ads trying to get you to buy these plants, report them as a scam - every time you see them.

These scammers don’t stop at hosta, they manipulate photos of other plants as well. Remember, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Always research the varieties before you buy them online & never plant strange seeds.🌱
