Garage Door Maintenance Checklist
Because ignoring weird noises has never worked out well.
Your garage door opens and closes like 1,000+ times a year. That’s more reps than most gym memberships see. Let’s keep it in shape.
3 Super Simple Things You Can Check
1. The “Does It Sound Possessed?” Test
If it screeches louder than your kids when WiFi goes out… that’s not normal. Garage doors should open smoothly, not star in a haunted house.
2. The “Is It Crooked?” Look
Step back and eyeball it. If your garage door looks like it’s leaning like it had a long night… something’s off.
3. The Safety Reverse Test
Put a roll of paper towels under the door and close it.
If it doesn’t reverse when it touches it — that’s a red flag. And not the fun kind.

3 Things You Definitely Should NOT DIY
(Unless you enjoy chaos.)
1. Springs
Garage door springs are under insane tension. This is not a “hold my beer” situation. Call Hollis.
2. Cables
If they look frayed, loose, or sketchy — they are. These things snap. We prefer they don’t.
3. Full Tune-Up & Balance Check
We tighten, l**e, adjust, align, and make sure your door isn’t fighting for its life every time you push the button.
If your garage door:
• Shakes like it’s nervous
• Slams like it’s mad
• Moves slower than Monday morning
• Or sounds like it needs therapy
