That window isn’t “modern.”
It’s one snowstorm away from being an aquarium.

Windows jammed tight to roof slopes = no room for proper flashing, water runoff, or ice control.

Roof dumps water. Gravity wins. Drywall loses.

Just because it fits doesn’t mean it belongs.

Build it once. Build it right.

Barndominiums. Why they are called what they are

The name is not just trendy marketing. Barndominium = barn + condominium. It started as a barn-style or shop building with living space added inside. Structure first. House second.

And that right there is where people get tripped up.

🔹 It is still a home, but it is built like a building, not a traditional house.
🔹 People chase them thinking they are just a cheaper shortcut to homeownership.

Here is where that mindset causes problems:

• Poor insulation planning = hot, cold, loud living space
• Moisture and condensation issues if the shell is not designed right
• Big open layouts that look cool but live poorly
• Financing and resale can be tougher than a standard home

It is not that barndos are bad. It is that they are different, and when people treat them like a budget house instead of a specialized structure, problems show up.

👉 My take. Saving money on the build type does not mean you can skip good design, building science, and proper planning. Cheap structure plus poor planning equals expensive lessons.

Giving Thanks and Giving Back 🧡

This Thanksgiving season, my husband and I are feeling extra grateful - for our family, our community, and the support we have received all year long. Together, Windgate Farms and WI Superior Services LLC. have put together 10 Thanksgiving food bags to help local families enjoy a full holiday meal.

Each bag includes everything needed for a hearty Thanksgiving dinner - and then some:
🦃 A turkey
🥫 Assorted veggies
🍒 Cranberry sauce
🍚 Rice
🥔 Mashed potatoes
🥘 Au gratin or scalloped potatoes
🍞 Stuffing
🥣 Gravy
🍰 Cake or brownie mix (and frosting!)

We’ll plan to have pickup this weekend right here at the Windgate Farms Farmstand.
