Had a fun evening last night. Shortly after Craig left (to drop off the dirty laundry, eat dinner at the church Across the street and spend a little time with me), a small parade of people from the team Julie (next door neighbor) is hosting came to the door requesting showers. I had told Julie that if her group was large, one bathroom would not be enough and offered to be a backup. Sure enough, the line next door was long and people were walking next door to our house. We had about a dozen sweaty, hot riders plus one driver, all happy to cool off and relax a little in the AC before going either to bed or downtown to the party. All were friendly, polite and appreciative — typical RAGBRAI folks.
This is the first time in 40-some years that I have had nothing to do with the ride. Craig and Schuyler are keeping Team ASI
Rolling. My job is supposed to be taking care of the cats. It was fun to meet some of the riders and learn about their reasons for doing the ride. PS — Andy, of the 12 who were here, 4 were riding Surly bikes — 2 Pugs, 1 Long Haul Trucker and a Cross Check. They were pretty impressed that the shower lady’s son had been part of Surly Bikes. Ah, fifteen minutes of fame!
