The sun is out and demo prep has begun to make way for a new Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa build! This dilapidated property on 10th Street in Ames, Iowa was generously donated by a local estate with the idea of creating a fresh start for a deserving central Iowa family. Big thanks to all of the generous donors and project partners to get this project moving ahead including Cooper and Sons Excavating and Bolton & Menk, Inc. More to come!

This is a "ghost sign" being preserved at 316 Main Street in Ames. Most of this image was covered by previous building occupants, but post-renovation will be more prominently on display as a unique feature of Ames' past . According to the Ames History Museum, this sign was on the exterior wall of the adjacent building at 314 Main Street, formerly "Roberson Hardware, Guns & Bicycles." It was most likely painted sometime in the early 1900's and was an advertisement for a cigar brand.
