New Build — Classic Club Bike
This style/design is a bit of a throwback to an era when the average cycling enthusiast typically used one bike for all their cycling needs. For commuting, training and recreational rides the bike was equipped with fenders (and quite possibly a rack and bags for carrying whatever was needed). On race days, the fenders and other excess equipment would be removed.
I'd describe the geometry as a "relaxed road racing bike". Relaxed in that it has adequate clearance for at least 32mm wide tires and fenders.
At this point, I'm still in the lug and BB shell prepping stage.

New Build: Light Touring Bike w/ Rando Overtones — Report 10
We're finally in the paint booth!
There was a slight delay as we decided at the last minute to add a font derailleur boss. This was in response to issues with the vintage SunTour Cyclone derailleur that had been selected. It turns out that it had a 31.8mm clamp rather than 28.6mm. However, even with a shim, it wouldn't have worked because the cage wouldn't have cleared the chain stay when it was positioned low enough for the 42T large chainring. I scrounged a vintage SunTour Superbe from my derailleur cache and we're golden!
Back to the paint — as you can see from the photos it's just the white trim at this point. The main color will be a really nice Kandy Red Metallic.

New Build: Light Touring Bike w/ Rando Overtones — Report #8
Last post, I think I said something about getting close to the finish line. Apparently, in my case, "close" is a relative term.
This time around there's a little photo essay on the fabrication of the rear brake cable hanger bridge. And, the dry installation of the fenders is well underway.

New Build: Light Touring Bike w/ Rando Overtones — Report #7
We're approaching the finishing line. There's a couple more braze ons (rear rack, pump and rear brake cable stop bridge) and I have to get the fenders dry fitted. Then it will be final clean up and prepping for paint.

Vintage Early ’50s Raleigh RRA Restoration
This has been an ongoing project for a number of years. I know it's been on my books at least since March of 2023 based on the dates of my first photos. But it's probably been longer because those first photos were of damage I discovered when I stripped the VERY BAD rattle can paint job. I don't remember how long it hung on a hook waiting to get stripped.
In any case, about the RRA (Raleigh Record Ace) — If I've got my facts right, Raleigh started making these sometime in the ’30s. It was their top of the line bicycle. The frame and fork were both made from butted Reynolds 531 tubing. The lugs were beautifully thinned/filed and brazed. Seriously, I have never seen a Raleigh with this level of workmanship! The bicycle was equipped with all sorts of parts made specifically for the RRA. And, to top all that off, Raleigh would paint the bicycle in any Raleigh color. The customer also had a choice of the decal set available in 7 different color combinations.
It has been repainted in what we believe to be the original color. This is based on traces of paint found in nooks and crannies after I stripped the rattle can paint. There was no remaining evidence of the original decal color combination, so we picked one we thought would look nice. The rear triangle and fork blades have been rechromed. I replaced both chain stays, the chain stay bridge and rolled and filled two small dents on the top tube.

New Build: Light Touring Bike w/ Rando Overtones — Report #5
Yesterday I got the dropout/stay assemblies brazed to the main triangle. It maybe could have happened sooner, but I'm also trying to get my paint backlog under control. To quote Roseann Roseann Adanna, "it's always something!"
