Grow Food Amherst Grow Food Amherst is a group of citizens committed to helping each other become more food self-sufficient by growing, selling and sharing food locally.

We have:

• Supported buying more food from local farms
• Organized community cooking and food preservation workshops
• Encouraged our community to invest in edible landscapes
• Sponsored educational workshops
• Encouraged our neighbors to create their own food gardens and composts

I drove on Federal Street twice today: once in Montague, to a place just off Route 63, to visit friends, and once in Belchertown. These days, the two Federal Streets — one in Montague, the other in Belchertown — aren't contiguous, and, interestingly, Amherst doesn't have a Federal Street at all....

Public Meeting on the future of the North Amherst Community Farm - May 7

Members of the North Amherst community are invited to a public meeting at the North Amherst Library on May 7 from 3:00pm-5:00pm to hear a recommendation regarding the future of the farm. Students in the UMass Permaculture Design class will present the results of their analysis and design recommendations. The NACF Board is interested in feedback on the recommendations from community members. Please join us!

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst Indigenous Awareness Circle has reached unanimous consent to support the Belchertown-Nipmuc Farm Conservation Alliance bid to rematriate state-owned land in Belchertown, MA to the Hassanamisco Nipmuc Band in Grafton, MA.
