It’s funny how many remodeling companies are suddenly offering deck installations.

A lot of them built their business around storm restoration and insurance roofing work. But when roofing slows down, they jump on the deck-building bandwagon.

The real question is: is that who you want building your deck?

Would you hire a company that just started offering deck services? A company with zero deck projects showcased on their page, Instagram, or website?

A deck is a major investment. Before you sign a contract, make sure you're hiring a contractor with proven experience. Someone with a portfolio of completed projects, a track record of building decks, not just someone looking for work during a slow season.

At Limitless, we've been building decks since 2016. We have more than 50 deck build posts on our page and hundreds of completed deck projects across the metro area. Over the past 10 years, we've built our reputation on quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and delivering outdoor spaces our customers love.

This job was recently completed in Andover. The homeowners decided to shrink the overall size but keep the main body design.

We installed Deckorators Summit series decking in color of Cliffside. The railing is Westbury C10 aluminum in the color of Grey, which is the first time we've installed this color of railing (which we really like). Last we poured a new concrete pad for the stairs to land on.

The homeowners love their new deck, as evidenced by the glowing review we received from them!

Decks, decks and more decks!

Is 2026 going to be the year of the decks?!? Sure is starting off that way.

And we’re not just talking about your standard 12x12 deck.

We’re talking about pergolas, privacy walls, Trex Company RainEscape and Quality Edge Inside Out under decking (water proofing for under the deck). And throw in some post wraps, multicolor railings, motorized screens, sliding glass doors…

Make sure to check back after we’ve completed some of these projects!

Imagine having a beautiful view right out the back of your home, but nowhere to sit and enjoy it.

Problem solved.

This homeowner had just moved in and wanted to make the most of their backyard.

So we installed a custom 16' x 12' deck with a 4x4' upper stair landing with stairs down to a lower landing where the stairs turn 45 degrees down to the ground.

We installed Deckorators Summit series decking in the color of Cliffside. The fascia is LP Building Solutions for Homeowners 12" trim in the Diamond Kote Siding System color of Onyx. The railing is Westbury C10 in the color black with 3" posts.

One standout detail? Picture-framed stairs. It’s a small upgrade from the traditional approach, but it adds a polished finish that really elevates the overall design.

Next up: a project in Chisago City, right along the channel between Chisago Lake and South Lindstrom Lake. Stay tuned.... you’re going to want to see this one.

It’s not often we get to work on a deck that’s right at ground level, so this one was a welcome change. And the bonus, no hauling ladders around!

This project in C**n Rapids started as a simple deck and railing replacement, with plans to reuse the existing framing.

However, once we removed the old materials and took a closer look, it became clear the framing wasn’t in good enough shape to keep.

After talking it through with the homeowner, we agreed a full reframe was the right call.

We rebuilt the structure and finished it with Deckorators Summit series decking in Boulder, paired with Westbury C10 aluminum railing in Bronze. The result turned out great, and the homeowner couldn’t be happier.

He also mentioned that some other companies had quoted 2-3x higher for the same job, likely because it was on the smaller side. For us, that’s never been a reason to pass—we’re just as committed to the small projects as we are to the big ones.

Do you have a room you spend a lot of time in and wish it opened up to the outdoors with a patio door?

You’re not alone. We’ve helped many customers looking to make that exact upgrade.

In most cases, they had an existing window they wanted converted into a patio door. Some projects involved upper-level windows, where we built a deck to create a functional outdoor space. Others were on the ground level, making it as simple as installing a new door.

No matter your setup, we can help make it happen.

Thinking about buying or selling a home this year?

One thing that can really throw a wrench into the process is an aging roof.

In the past, buying or selling a home with an older roof, and getting a homeowners insurance policy, was rarely an issue. But things have changed.

Today, many insurance companies are hesitant to insure roofs that are more than 10–15 years old. In some cases, they may require the roof to be replaced before issuing a policy, or they may charge 2–4× the normal premium.

So if you're buying or selling a home with an older roof, it’s important to get ahead of the issue.

If the roof is over 10 years old, we can help by:
* Evaluating the current condition of the roof
* Calling the city to find out when the last roofing permit was issued
* Providing an estimate for a full replacement or any necessary repairs

The last thing you want is for this to come up a week before closing. ⏰

If you're selling a home with an older roof, buyers may ask for a price reduction. If you're buying a home with an older roof, it’s best to understand the condition and how it could affect your homeowners insurance premiums before you move forward.

If we’re being honest… installing doors isn’t our favorite job. 😅

They’re heavy, they require precision, and if a house is even slightly out of square (which happens a lot), they can test a contractor’s patience.

But here’s the thing… nothing transforms the look of a home faster than a new door.

Roofing protects your home.
Siding refreshes the exterior.
Windows improve efficiency.

But a beautiful front door? That’s the piece that gives your home personality.

Sometimes the toughest installs create the biggest visual impact. And when we step back at the end of the job… it’s always worth it.

So call us today if your front door is hard to open, leaks air, is falling apart, or looks ugly.

FYI - there are many cities that offer grants for replacing your front door. So when you call us for an estimate, we'll help to see if you're eligible!

This week is going to feel like Spring, even though it could be -5 next week! But us Minnesotans will take what we can get.

Spring time always brings a rush of homeowners who want to add a new deck or refresh their old deck.

One great option is the Deckorators Summit series decking.

It was our #1 seller last year.

Why you ask?!?

The biggest reason, affordability. Price wise you can't beat the Summit series compared to the other brands.

The Summit series also has a nice aesthetic feel to it, great traction when it's wet and is water and ground safe. Don't forget the 25yr structural and stain/fade warranty.

The Summit series comes in (3) colors: Boulder, Cliffside and Glacier.

We had customers last year who combined the Summit series with the Deckorators Dark Slate picture frame, or you could use any of the other Deckorators boards for a two-tone look. Your options are limitless!

Did anyone check the forecast? We thought it had to be a typo… 40 and even 50 degrees in early–mid February in Minnesota?!

We’re not complaining, instead we’re taking full advantage of it. We installed a number of windows and doors in December and January when temps were in the 30s, and as long as we’re staying above that 30-degree mark, we’ll keep the momentum going.

This is a big win for homeowners. Many assume they have to wait until spring to enjoy their new windows and doors, but winter is actually one of the best times to upgrade to Energy Star® products in Minnesota. Getting them installed now means you can start seeing the comfort and efficiency benefits right away.

Another bonus? Winter is typically a slower season for window and door projects, which means manufacturing and installation lead times can be cut in half compared to the busy summer months.

This time of year, water spots on ceilings or drips along walls are most often caused by interior condensation rather than a roof leak.

A true roof leak will typically show up whenever it rains. If your roof does not leak when it rains but you notice moisture issues in the winter, the cause is almost always condensation inside the home.

During extended periods of below-freezing temperatures, frost can build up in attic spaces. When temperatures rise by 20 degrees or more, that frost melts, which can lead to water spots, drips, or staining on ceilings and walls.

So what can you do:
1. Ventilation - Proper ventilation is critical. If an attic doesn’t have enough venting, warm air becomes trapped during the winter and can turn into frost. Adequate intake (soffit) and exhaust (roof vents) venting allows warm, moist air to escape and helps prevent frost buildup.

2. Insulation - Building code in Minnesota requires attics to have a minimum insulation value of R-49 to R-60, which is equivalent to roughly 16–20 inches of blown-in insulation. Having the correct amount of insulation significantly slows heat transfer from the living space into the attic, helping maintain consistent temperatures and reduce condensation issues.

3. Baffles - Baffles work hand-in-hand with both ventilation and insulation and deserve special attention. They are installed along the underside of the roof sheathing near the lower edge of the roof. Baffles create a clear airflow path from the soffit vents up through the attic. Without them, incoming air from the soffit vents can be blocked by insulation, reducing airflow and compromising the entire ventilation system.

4. Sealing Gaps and Cracks - One thing you never want in your attic is a heat source. Whether it’s a leak in your furnace venting or warm air escaping around a light fixture, keeping heat out of the attic is essential. An HVAC company can inspect the vent stack from the basement to the roof to ensure it is properly sealed. A contractor can also check around light fixtures and other ceiling penetrations to determine if spray foam or additional sealing is needed to eliminate air leaks.

If you have an issue, call the guys who have been doing this for over 25yrs. We've seen almost every situation and every scenario!
