Most of a pool build happens before it looks like a pool.

Right now this one is gravel, chalk marks, and bare ground. The shell is in and the coping is set, but the deck, the landscaping, and everything that makes a backyard feel finished are all still ahead of it.

It's the least photogenic stage of the job and one that matters just as much as the day the water goes in.
