I am tired. We visited Old Greenville this weekend, the start of the festival season. Next up is three straight weekends starting in October, with Madison County Fair, Freedom Fest (Annapolis) and Fall Mountain Music (Ironton). I may need to revise expectations since we did well over $100 above prediction at Old Greenville. Deb did load six extra cases of plants. Half of one crate (the usual six were filled) came back. Greenville was a surprising festival.

The problems in the greenhouse turned out to be a multi tap. That would have been easy to fix if we knew the problem before it happened. I will make sure that never happens again by running more dedicated electrical circuits. Life moves on. We will begin our summer selling season this Friday, at the Iron County Farmer's Market site at the Iron County Courthouse. We have not priced any of these plants yet. The selling tables will not be as full as usual. We hope to be at the courthouse every weekend now until fall. Only the plants on the fish tank (a great find for $20) are for sale, not any of the parent plants in the background. Most parent plants spent the winter in our new house.

It is grim news to report. That recent cold snap did some damage. That, and the electric heater seemed to stop working. Neither of us recognized that. While the greenhouse has problems, the new house has over 150 of the mother plant. Not all these were daughters in the greenhouse. Deb forgot to move some. She took it better than I expected. She is busy planting seeds. We have hoped to offer some annuals, maybe not the ones you see a lot of at other markets. The cover photo shows happier tames in the greenhouse.

The greenhouse is full, although we have pulled some outside, or under plastic spanning the two greenhouses. Part is because I had hoped to start the season early, but the Corona Virus changed our minds. I did get the season extended, not necessarily for us. We need a minimum temperature since we grow houseplants. Right now, the opening of Farmer's Market is slated for May 15, although that may not happen at that time. We will know more soon.

Hello, Thursday
Again, I expect to be a little late to the Farmer’s Market at the Iron County Courthouse Friday, due to another appointment. This week’s feature is what I believe is a one-of-a-kind pot, with embossed flowers. It appears to have been two pots and glued together. Inside the pot is a Dragon Wing Begonia, and it sells for $5. The other feature is the small fish-bow, although could have been for something else. It has one of the large Aloe Vera plants we recently harvested from the mother plant. It has a $6 price tag. Update: The Swan sold last weekend, but the big white dish has gone to the pile of broken glass/ceramics. Seems cats got into the greenhouse, and knocked the crate over, breaking that pot. We did rescue most of the plants, though. Join us. We are getting more vendors at the market, one deals in crochet items, the other makes Mesquite barbecue chips. As long as it is homemade, it can sell at the market.

Hello, Thursday!

Sorry, but my hopes of doing a Thursday picture every week kind of went p**f. But here are two of our premier pieces for Friday’s Iron County (MO) Farmer’s Market. I may be a little late but will get there in mid-afternoon. The first piece is a large white dish, with embossed items along the bottom edge. The planter has Wandering Jew, and Spider Plants. The second dish is the Swan planter, which likely was intended as a planter. It has a Spider Plant, a Pink Impatient, Patho Plant, and a Purple Heart plant. The white planter is $7, and the Swan is $8. They are only available at the Farmer’s Market, unless other arrangements can be made.

Fair season has started, although we only do a few (logistics is the usual problem). We will be at the Iron County Courthouse Farmer's Market most weekends, 3-to-8 Friday, and about 8 a.m. Saturday, leaving about noon. The market actually opens at 7 a.m., but we rarely are there that early. The spring Mountain Music event tends to be smaller than the fall event. Barbecue Battle is next.

Winter damage was predicted, although we tried to protect the water lines with bags of dirt, and sand. Still, there was damage. The water was shut off, but some remained in the lines. It should be finished next week. We are turning our attention to the spring Mountain Music Festival at the Iron County (MO) Courthouse starting Friday, and lasting through Sunday. Stop at our site.

Hello, Thursday
This, hopefully, is our weekly post about upcoming sales at the Farmer's Market at the Iron (MO) County Courthouse. One reques last year we heard often was for Hen, and Chicks. We have a couple dozen after growing them over the winter, and should have more after those run out. Sales begin May 3. I hope to see you there.
