Dahlia Days at Green Barn
On Sunday, May4, 2025, I will be giving a "How To" Demo at the Green Barn South of Isanti, on Hwy 65 at 11:00am. I will demo what is needed to be done to raise show dahlias from planting to season's end. I will demo the techniques I use to grow hundreds of dahlias. I will discuss starting tubers in the best soils and proper fertilization and watering. I will demo transplanting and splitting tubers. Showing how to make cuttings from your tubers! I will show how to get 4 or more cuttings in one season off one tuber. Thus, many more plants to produce. There will be over 60 varieties of show Dahlias for sale along with all the correct potting soils, trays, fertilizers and everything needed to grow Show Dahlias, all in one place. Bring your pen and paper to make notes as this is a working class, not a U-Tube! Please R.S.V.P. if attending to save a seat. This is a must! Saturday April 19,2025, I will be giving a Dahlia Seminar, in Zimmerman, MN. at Nelson Nursery on the southwest side of Hwy 169. I will be covering how to start, plant and fertilize Dahlias for the year. There will also be hundreds of good show Tubers for sale. All components for growing from potting soil, bone meal, fertilizers and growing trays will be available. The seminar starts around 11:00 AM. There will also be time for questions and comments. Installed a drip irrigation system to all flowers and vegetables. Side dressed with organic fertilizer and rototilled the rows. Then put rye straw down to control weeds and conserve watering.
