Gibbons Grotto has decided that all Donations received will now go to the family of Dustin and Lydia Riggins to help with there daughter Adleys medical expenses .
A few weeks ago, Adley started experiencing headaches and an upset stomach. After a few days of no relief, They headed into the clinic for bloodwork and testing. Everything came back normal. But that evening she started experiencing tingling in her hands. They ended up going to the ER for more tests and eventually a CT scan which revealed a rare form of brain tumor called a colloid cyst of the third ventricle. From there they were sent for an MRI and referred to a neurosurgeon. MRIs found a chiari malformation and a syrinx in her spinal cord. The neurosurgeon team is confident that her symptoms are being caused by the malformation and they will just monitor the growth of the colloid cyst. Originally, they set up surgery to treat the malformation for December 1, but her symptoms the last few days have worsened. So they were able to move it up to October 27.
As most of you know Halloween is the hardest holiday for me (Andy). I lost my brother Joey to a Brain tumor on Halloween night 1999 and out Joey was born 8 years later. When I saw Lydia's story I knew we had to help.
