Let’s clear the air…

I’m not saying there’s not a wrong way to do your kitchen hardware… but there are a LOT of right ways to do it!

You can change up your hardware placement throughout your kitchen depending on the cabinet style and what makes the most sense. The key is to ✨keep symmetrical spaces symmetrical✨

Think: towers matching towers, uppers matching uppers, drawers matching drawers, etc.

On a stand alone pantry cabinet however, it might make more sense to change the hardware placement, and that’s okay!

Ultimately, your hardware placement should be a mix of function + appearance. It should look intentional, but more importantly, it should feel natural to use every day.

Splurge vs Save: Primary Bathroom Edition 🛁

You don’t have to splurge on everything to get a high-end bathroom. You just have to know where to spend your money.

✨ SPLURGE: Porcelain slabs
The walls are a statement piece, so we wanted them to stand out. We chose a thin porcelain slab so it could go on the walls and give us a really clean, finished look.

🤍 SAVE: Floor tile
Since the floor covers more square footage, we kept the tile simple so the walls could be the star.

✨ SPLURGE: Light fixture
This is one of the first things you see when you walk into the bathroom, so we wanted a fixture that made an impact.

🤍 SAVE: Bathtub
This client doesn’t use this tub very often, so there was no need to spend a ton here. We chose something simple that still looks beautiful.

Splurge where it makes an impact. Save where it makes sense.

We love designing a tower or an appliance garage into a kitchen space… when it makes sense!

If adding one means losing valuable countertop space, especially around your cooktop, it might actually make your kitchen less functional.

When you’re cooking, you need room to prep, set things down, and move around, not just more places to hide appliances.

What do you need more of?
Storage or counter space…

Does your bathroom sink have to be centered under the mirror?

Not always.

Sometimes centering the sink means compromising the layout, storage, lighting, or overall functionality of the space. The “best” option isn’t always the perfectly symmetrical one

When I client gets caught up on symmetry, I remind them that when everything is beautiful and new, that isn’t what the eye is drawn to. It will all work together AND function perfectly.

Two measurements you’re going to want to save in order to maximize your kitchen island design…

This 4 foot wide island is supported by …

✨24” base cabinets: this is where you get those gorgeous drawer sets, your trash pull-outs, your sink base, etc

✨12” upper cabinets: this gives you your leg room under your countertop over-hang (where your stools will tuck-in) AND allows for tons of hidden storage

I call this back row of uppers a “backstack” … and it’s one of my favorite kitchen island upgrades for a more useful and intentional space!
