We hit a milestone today! 🎉

After realizing the final chapter was trying to do the work of two chapters, Ben and I decided to split it in half. That means Chapter 24 is officially finished, and Chapter 25 is underway!

Today's scene features one of Becca and Alex's ongoing debates: grilled cheese. 🍞🧀

As a Wisconsin girl, Becca certainly appreciates good cheese... though she may be a little less enthusiastic about the individually wrapped, "pre-portioned melting cheese" variety. Alex, on the other hand, seems perfectly content to defend it. 😄

One of our favorite parts of writing this series is slipping in these small, everyday moments between the mystery, faith, and friendships. Sometimes a grilled cheese sandwich says more about a character than a whole page of description.

Back to Chapter 25!

What a wonderful day at Block of Books!

We had so much fun connecting with readers, meeting fellow authors, and sharing Death at the Paper Palace alongside more than 90 talented local authors. We were incredibly blessed by everyone who stopped by our table to chat, browse, encourage us, and support our work.

We completely sold out of our paperback copies of Death at the Paper Palace and were thrilled to see so many pieces of artwork find new homes as well!

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who made this event possible—especially the organizers, volunteers, fellow authors, and readers who continue to support local books and local art.

We're heading out with grateful hearts and already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

Today we signed copies of Death at the Paper Palace at our local Barnes & Noble, and honestly… we’re still processing it 🥹📚

Seeing our cozy mystery sitting on the table beside so many wonderful books was surreal.

We’re especially grateful for how supportive our local Barnes & Noble has been of local authors. It means so much to indie writers like us to have a bookstore willing to champion local stories and create space for community authors. 🤍

If you’re local, signed copies are now available in the Local Authors section!

Thank you to everyone supporting indie bookstores, local authors, and our little Tales & Tails™ mystery world.

Chapter 23 of Fall from Grace is officially drafted! ✨🎨📚

Kristin wrapped up writing today, and Ben is already hard at work editing. We can hardly believe it, but we now have just ONE chapter and an epilogue left to write before the first draft is complete.

This story has been full of twists, secrets, suspicious characters, and so many moments we can’t wait to share with you all. Thank you for following along with this journey and cheering us on as we bring Crystal Run back to life once again. 🖤

(And yes… Alex studied under the great master YouTube. 😂)

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who laid down their lives so we could enjoy the freedoms we cherish every day. 🇺🇸❤️

From Kristin and Ben, we wish our wonderful community a meaningful and peaceful Memorial Day.

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

The William J. Clark Memorial Library has been mentioned many times throughout Death at the Paper Palace and Fall from Grace… but in Chapter 23 of FFG, we finally get to step inside. 📚✨

From the sailboats drifting along the Fox River to Becca wandering the stacks with Butterscotch at her side, it was so much fun bringing another corner of Crystal Run to life—especially because this library was inspired by a place we love right here in the Fox Valley. 🐾⛵

One of our favorite parts of writing the Tales & Tails Mysteries is weaving real-life inspiration into the fictional world of Crystal Run.

Now the question is… who recognizes the library that inspired it? 👀

✨ “Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.” — Psalm 97:11 ✨

What a beautiful promise this is. The one who does the sowing is God Himself. Even when life feels cold, dark, confusing, or heavy, He is still planting seeds beneath the surface—light, joy, hope, peace. And seeds planted by the Lord never remain buried forever.

If you are walking through a difficult season right now, take heart. The light may feel distant, but God is already preparing the bloom. 🌿☀️
