Intern Spotlight:
Megan has been enjoying her internship with Anastasia Interior Design in Appleton! Her role includes accompanying their lead designer, Anastasia, at client meetings, site visits, staging homes, and developing 3D models and other materials as needed. Megan has loved getting to know the design process for new construction and remodel projects. While visiting various showrooms, she has learned about many products and materials used during home construction. Megan is incredibly thankful for the time and knowledge Anastasia and the team have shared with her throughout her internship, and says that she has learned so much in this time!

Intern Spotlight:
Melissa is honored to intern at Lewis Rose Design in De Pere, Wisconsin. Lewis Rose Design is a comprehensive interior design company that specializes in elevated and bespoke interior designs. The team pictured below of Dana Enderby, Ben VerGiesen, Melissa, and Sydney Bannach (from left to right) has included her during their numerous client consultations and installations. She was given opportunities to demonstrate her FVTC Interior Design education through choosing client art and drawing scaled 3D project models. The internship at Lewis Rose Design has given her several opportunities to meet with local and regional vendors. The internship has been a phenomenal capstone to her Interior Design education.

Emily has been enjoying her internship at Timber Innovations LLC, where she has had the opportunity to gain a well-rounded, hands-on experience in interior design and remodeling. Her internship has allowed her to experience several different stages of the design process, from visiting potential project sites and taking field measurements to reviewing floor plans, developing drawings, and making finish selections. She has used SketchUp to create a 3D rendering for a fireplace project and is currently using AutoCAD to develop drawings for another custom fireplace design. Emily has also reviewed plans for an upcoming major remodel and selected paint colors to coordinate with fixtures and finishes for another client.

The variety of projects and responsibilities has been one of the most valuable parts of her internship. Rather than experiencing just one area of industry, Emily has been able to see how design, technical drawing, material and color selection, fieldwork, problem-solving, and the needs of each client all come together in a real project. Her time at Timber Innovations has given her the opportunity to apply what she has learned at Fox Valley Technical College while also developing new skills and a better understanding of the complete design and remodeling process. She looks forward to continuing to learn and build on this well-rounded experience throughout the remainder of her internship.

Intern Spotlight:

Katelyn is thoroughly enjoying her internship at Carpet City Flooring Center in Appleton. She is developing an understanding of the materials, learning how to put together flooring estimates, and how to guide customers toward selections that align with their lifestyle, budget, and vision. Katelyn especially enjoys face-to-face customer interactions and providing design advice.

Katelyn is incredibly grateful that Carpet City took her on as an intern. She wants to extend a huge thank you to Angela and the team, who have taken the extra time to mentor her!

Intern Spotlight:
Madelyn has been enjoying her internship at Bay Area Granite and Marble (BAGM) in Appleton. At BAGM Madelyn assists customers with product selection and navigating the showroom and samples. As well as helping coworkers by putting customer drawings into the computer program, organizing inventory, and filling out quotes before they get sent to the customer. BAGM carries multiple stone types including natural ones such as granite and quartzite and man-made options such as quartz. Different quartz brands are also offered such as Viatera, Cambria, and Silestone along with other brands as well. BAGM is a great option for different projects and budgets, and the staff is always willing to help. They offer three locations, Appleton, Wrightstown, and Suamico with the workshop being at the Wrightstown location. Madelyn is excited for the future and for learning even more during her time at Bay Area Granite and Marble.

Intern Spotlight:
Coleen has been loving the opportunity to dive
into the world of custom cabinetry at Wilco Cabinet Makers Inc in Green Bay and experience
what it takes to bring clients’ dreams to life!
During her time at Wilco, Coleen has had the
opportunity to join the Sales Designers for field
measurements and client meetings, assist with
social media, and help some of the Sales
Designers with elevation drawings. Her favorite
part has been helping clients with finish
selections and seeing their vision come
together.
A big thank-you to everyone at Wilco Cabinet
Makers for welcoming Coleen and giving her
such a valuable hands-on experience!

Sometimes the best learning tool is the space around you.

This fall, Interior Design students returned to newly renovated classrooms designed to inspire creativity, collaboration, and real-world learning. Inspired by residential, mid-century modern, and industrial design styles, the updated spaces help students experience the environments they'll encounter in their future careers.
