In Humboldt County, one entrepreneur is transforming clutter into clarity and helping her community breathe a little easier.

After leaving her role as a classroom teacher, Kaleigh Tuso rediscovered her lifelong gift for organization while planning her own wedding. That spark of inspiration grew into Declutter Organize Breathe, a professional organizing service dedicated to creating functional, stress-reducing systems for homes and businesses across Northern California. 🌿🏡

Like many first-time business owners, Kaleigh faced the challenge of navigating formation, planning, and growth on her own, until she connected with the North Coast SBDC. With consistent guidance, monthly check-ins, and encouragement from SBDC Advisor Melanie Barnett, Kaleigh gained confidence, accountability, and a roadmap to build her vision.

From networking strategies to business planning and practical next steps, SBDC support helped her turn her passion into a thriving, community-centered service. Today, Declutter Organize Breathe is helping individuals and businesses reduce stress, restore order, and build systems that last.

And Kaleigh isn’t stopping, she continues meeting with her advisor as she expands her offerings and deepens her mission to support her community.

Resetting random areas in your space can be super satisfying 🤗🎶

02/23/2026

Weekend Reset - this depicts some of the things I did this weekend. Not pictured: body-doubling for my husband as he organized his office, washing clothes at the laundromat, running errands, taking care of the dog. No matter what you do this weekend, it was enough. Last weekend, I watched my favorite comfort shows and enjoyed snacks. Let this message send you into the new week as a reminder to be gentle and kind to yourself no matter your productivity level. 🥰

✨🤓 Every once in a while I like to refresh the energy of my workspace. I move stuff around. I remove or add items based on a few key factors ~

* Functionality & Practicality:

Is the set up of my space and the items within it functioning for my life presently?

My desk is intentionally placed with the console table behind it to provide a cohesive work zone. I have a tendency to become distracted from a task if I have too much to look at in front of me. This setup quiets my mind and is not visually overestimating.

The “guest room” is designated on the left side of the space. The “office” is on the right side. The yellow lamp provides a distinction between the zones. The bedding is a gentle shade of tan with no additional patterning. This was an intentional choice to reduce visual stimuli. The “guest room” fades into the background when I’m working, so my “office” feels like its own entity 📖

* Creativity:

Do I feel energized by this space? Can new ideas be percolated here?

The lamp light is soft and the curtains are muted shades of cream and white which allows for a beautiful golden hue when the sun shines into the room. This vibe feels simultaneously relaxing and energizing.

* Sentiment, Calm & Joy:

Are the items in my space visually appealing to look at everyday? Do the objects in my space make me feel good?

On the console table and the shelves, I’ve arranged a plethora of items that make me feel loved, sentimental, accomplished, curious, silly and just absolutely joyful.

My office space does not have to look a certain way or appeal to anyone else other than myself. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Everyone has their own style and their own interpretation of minimalism, maximalism and tidiness. ✨

This is your reminder that you get to make your space into whatever you want it to be. You’re the creative director of your life. Embrace it👏☺️

Happy tidying!

Last night, we attended the Arcata Chamber of Commerce Leadership Awards dinner. I was nominated in one of the categories so we went! 🥳

We enjoyed delicious food, saying hello to new and familiar faces, and watching people be honored by their community.

And as it turns out, in my category.. I WON 🤩😁😭🤭

✨Home Based Business of the Year✨

I’m so humbled to know that my work makes a positive impact in our community. I’m in awe that I get to wake up each day and pursue one of my passions as my job.

Doing my work doesn’t feel like a job though, it feels like an alignment of self. Supporting others in finding peace and calm in their homes and lives is such a rewarding endeavor 💕

Thank you to my love, for being the most supportive partner and for having the sweetest most genuine gleam of joy on your face when you witness something good happen in my life. I love you always ❤️

My car is clean.. now what? 😁

I refreshed the items in the glove box and console - lots of tissues (I have allergies 😅), sanitizing wipes, face masks, state map, car charger, an assortment of supplies (bandaids, allergy meds, Dramamine, hair ties, etc) and of course, my CDs 😏

I put new floor mats in my car to protect the clean carpets, or at least to prolong the need to deep clean the carpet again for a long time.

I added a seat cover to protect the backseat from my dog who brings in dirt and mud everyday, and because he sheds constantly.

I put large, clear mirrors on both the driver and passenger sun visors. The old mirror I had purchased years ago was corroded and the car’s mirrors are teeny tiny.

I utilized bins I already had to reorganize and downsize the contents of the trunk (emergency supplies and a roll of toilet paper just in case 😆). I left extra room in the trunk for future items. Empty or open space does not have to be filled. Leave space 🙌

The goal is not perfection, it’s functionality and ease. Create systems that make your day flow smoothly and that don’t add stress to your already busy day!

If you’re interested to know who deep cleaned my car, send me a message!

Happy Tidying ✨🤗

For years, I thought that I needed a new car. I drive every day & need reliable transportation. My car is older & quirkier than a new car would be & doesn’t have convenient modern technology. Generally, when things get old/used we move on to newer versions & don’t look back. Recently, I was reminded that new doesn’t equal better. I’ve always known this but decided my car should be on its way out of my life so I unintentionally stopped caring for it.✨At 17 yrs old, my grandpa bought me this car. Incredibly exciting! This gently used car allowed me to drive into the world on my own - what a gift! It’s been w/ me through every single adventure in my adult life. When I met my husband he drove the exact same car in yellow! I thought he was my person pretty early on but matching cars felt like a nice little sign from the universe that I was looking in the right direction 🥰 As an organizer, I connect w/ people about their stuff. We talk about what items mean to them & how they’re affected by their proximity to those belongings. Those feelings can come from how the items surrounding us are being cared for. Rarely does anyone intend to neglect their stuff, but we don’t always have time, energy or mental capacity to nurture beyond ourselves. That’s ok. Some people use the term ‘treasures’ to define items they deem worthy of keeping. I was reminded that my car has always been one of my treasures. I felt sad to have forgotten. My car works well-enough to take me where I need to go & exudes the feeling of home. It deserves to be well maintained ❤️ If you’ve read this far, thank you for sharing space. Feeling sentimental attachment towards stuff is not a bad thing. It’s not a character flaw or a lack of self-control. It’s actually love & hope & creativity & uninterrupted joy & childlike wonder & poetry. Items you keep should lift you up & make you feel something, like hope, joy, peace, safety, beauty, relief, love, abundance ❤️ You’re doing your best in this moment. I’m proud of you & I’m here to support you. Send pics of your spaces! I will cheer you on! 🤍 Msg me to find out who cleaned & revived my beautiful little car!
