Ever wander what those letters and numbers on a bag of fertilizer mean? N - Nitrogen, P - Phosphorous, K - Potassium. The numbers, such as 25-3-8 are the percentage of Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium. For example, each pound of fertilizer in a bag with an analysis of 25-3-8 has 25% Nitrogen, 3% Phosphorous and 8% Potassium.
