Winter Tips For Your Heat Pump!

1. DON’T CRANK UP THE TEMPERATURE. It won’t heat the home any faster to turn it up higher, and it will eat up more energy. Try a programmable thermostat to turn the heat down while you’re away, and a more comfortable temperature for when you are due to return. This is easier on your unit and your wallet.
2. DON’T RELY ON AUXILLARY/EMERGENCY HEAT. This is for emergencies when the heat pump isn’t working or the temperature outside has reached too low of a degree. Your Emergency/Auxiliary heat will kick on itself when needed. If you notice yours is staying on even in warmer temperatures give us a call to repair the heat pump so you do not rack up energy costs over time.
3. CLEAN/CHANGE YOUR FILTERS. This ensures that your unit is able to work properly and you have good indoor air quality.
4. KEEP OUTDOOR UNIT FREE FROM DEBRIS / LEAVES. Your unit needs good air circulation to perform. Regularly clean around your unit to ensure good performance.
5. DON’T WORRY ABOUT DEFROST MODE. This mode scares homeowners, but defrosting frozen areas in the winter is part of a normal operation. However, if you notice it staying on it’s time to give us a call to repair the problem.
6. FOLLOW A MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. Keeping your unit “tuned up” twice per year helps catch smaller components that are struggling and close to going out. Try to catch the issues before they become a problem during the worst of times.

Fall is just around the corner. Before you know it winter will knocking on our doors.
It's a good time to do a few routine checks around your house to help the upkeep of your unit.
☑️ Keep your unit free from debris such as leaves, dirt, and those pesky pecans that can drop into your unit. Keeping it free from debris and tall grass will also help keep small critters from using it to hide.
☑️Review your thermostat settings. I know we don't like to be too uncomfortable, but keeping your thermostat at the lowest or highest setting comfortable to you will help keep your home more efficient.
☑️Check filters and change as often as needed to keep dust and debris from clogging the airflow, allowing your unit to breathe. Once a month is recommended.
