I'm going to start picking garlic scapes this week. If you would like some with your egg delivery message me. They are $5. Scapes are wonderful. You can make so many delicious things with them. We roast them on the grill like asparagus. Chop them into just about anything I am cooking. Make pesto. Here is a humus recipe. Keeps me going until garlic harvest.

Pictures of last year's garlic on June 4th. In the old growing areas. Those blackberries on the left are gone now. Maybe an acre of them. Second picture you can see how much of my raised beds the garlic took up. Not much left for Spring planting. The 3rd picture is our crops in those same beds today. Please excuse all the construction. We are putting up an old metal gazebo to grow grapes on. The blackberries have also taken over my perennial garden. I will get to that next week. The 4th picture is what is growing in the old garlic patch today. Lots of potatoes and onions. Looking over the hill, there are no blackberries. On that hill is 5 12X4 raised beds that are mostly planted. 42 tomato plants in rows on the hill and 66 blueberries bushes. There are 8 fruit trees. This year's garlic is way down the hill on the flat. All to keep the blackberries away. Go away blackberries.

This honey fermented garlic and honey fermented onions make a nice topper on my salad. Drizzle some of the honey and no dressing needed. I fermented several jars of this last fall. The onions were a lovely blush colored red onion we grew last year. Good stuff.

I planted 42 tomatoes and some purple tomatillos on the hill this year. Had to make room for the 6 rows of blueberries Andren planted. It's pretty steep. The green behind the raised beds on the blueberry hill is our potato patch. They are so lush looking. It's where I used to grow my garlic. Great for root crops.

We hardly ever touch our Rodies. Some are 40 years old. Never prune unless branches are going in the wrong direction. Like this one over the driveway. Never pull off dead blooms. Never fertilize. Don't water. Couldn't have more blooms. They sure thrive in this environment naturally. Entirely no work plant.

Indigo Apple tomato is one of the prettiest anthocyanin fruits slicer tomatoes we grow. These 4 oz fruits have sweet, intense, earthy flavor. So juicy. Vines are tall and produce plenty fruits with darkened tops and purple/brownish bottom ends. An early tomato with fruits ripening about 70 days after transplant. Perfect little slicers for garnishing, fresh eating off the vine! Another masterpiece by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms. Come get them.
