Although we post more polished renderings most of the time, every project involves extensive drawing by hand. The classic “architect’s napkin sketch” is real! This loose work keeps the ideas flowing. We often include even our discarded sketches into our client presentations to show them our process and how we got from point A (their wishlist of function and aesthetics) to B (a custom home design).

Check out this new residence atop Beaucatcher mountain, overlooking Asheville proper! The design is inspired by craftsman architecture, but with a modern expanse of glass on the view side. This renovation and addition is nearing completion of construction in Asheville’s Lake View Park neighborhood. A new sunroom is centered around a rustic fireplace crafted from the stone salvaged from the existing chimney’s demolition. Interior renovations include a new kitchen and expanded lower level living - complete with a ping pong area and music room!

When Hurricane Helene ripped through Riceville, they found portions of this charming home’s roof acres away in a neighbor’s property. While the circumstances were grim, this unfortunate event opened up an opportunity for our clients to renovate and add to the house.

This new kitchen offers connection to the main living spaces, as well as a dramatic view of the valley to the south. A bar separates the kitchen and dining room.

From modern to traditional - we enjoy working on projects in a diverse range of architectural styles. Our theory is that any style can be great, so long as it is designed thoughtfully, considers its site context, and speaks to our clients’ personal taste.

This home is in the Grove Park neighborhood in Asheville, steps away from the historic Inn. While the front is a more formal interpretation of a red brick, Georgian facade - the rear will feature a more playful, organic form. More to come!
