"We lived through Helene too."
As this year comes to a close and we are finishing our final multi-trade homes impacted by Helene, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on the choices I/we made, the outcomes I/we didn’t anticipate, and the devastation our hometown in Western North Carolina endured.
In the days leading up to the storm and immediately after it passed, we acted quickly and with urgency. We deployed more than 100+ team members to tarp roofs, windows, and siding, check on relatives, community members, loved ones, clear roads with chainsaws so emergency and civilian vehicles could pass, and served hundreds of people with food, water, and supplies directly from our office. We made hundreds of phone calls to bring in additional help, all with the intention of supporting the rebuild of a community we love deeply.
Along the way, there were incredible people and crews who showed up with heart, grit, and integrity and there were also moments where things didn’t go as planned. We even encountered a bad actor who caused real harm, tying up significant time and resources for both us and our customers. While identified early, the impact was still real.
Out of necessity and compassion, we stepped into services we don’t normally provide, tree removal, mitigation, framing, drywall, flooring, insulation, counter tops, cabinets because so many people were desperate for help and had nowhere else to turn. We battled and are still battling insurance companies to pay to get homes back to pre-storm condition
I want to say this clearly and sincerely: to anyone we fell short for, I am truly sorry.
Some of our reviews reflect those moments, and I understand the frustration and disappointment that came with them. As the owner, that responsibility is mine to carry. What I can also say without hesitation is that our intentions were always rooted in care, honesty, and service. We were doing our best in a time of chaos, exhaustion, and heartbreak, alongside a community that was hurting just as deeply.
Helene didn’t only damage homes and businesses, it tested us all. It challenged me personally as a business owner, a friend, a husband, and a father. And it changed us.
I shared early on that we were here before the storm, during the storm, and we will be here after the storm.
That commitment hasn’t wavered. Pisgah Roofing is refocusing on what made us a powerhouse from the start, exceptional roofing, done right. By streamlining operations and doubling down on our core roofing expertise, we’re building back stronger, sharper, and more resilient than ever.
To our community: thank you for your patience, your grace, your trust, and your willingness to rebuild together. We are grateful beyond words, and we will continue learning, improving, and serving with humility and heart. If you have any feedback, need to remedy a situation that has happened during these times. Please call our office 828-424-7112, select my extension and I will personally assist in the matter.
We are forever changed and forever thankful.
Happy Holidays,
