We continue to visit, be inspired, and be reminded just how much this small valley has to offer.
From last week’s experience at the Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies, to today’s visit at the Powers Art Center, we remain committed to staying engaged, learning, growing, and drawing inspiration from these remarkable places.
This afternoon, our Carbondale-based team members spent time at the Powers Art Center - a striking and quietly powerful destination set within a working ranch landscape. Often described as a “museum in a cow pasture,” the Center is both architecture and experience: a carefully crafted sandstone volume that blends seamlessly into the surrounding terrain while operating as a highly sustainable, energy-conscious building.
Beyond the galleries, the experience extends into a broader cultural landscape - where art, land stewardship, and history intersect. The surrounding ranch, preserved through conservation efforts, reinforces a unique dialogue between art and environment, offering visitors not just a museum, but a place for reflection, study, and connection.
Places like this continue to shape how we think, design, and engage. In a valley rich with creative energy, we’re reminded that inspiration often lives just beyond the expected, rooted in landscape, culture, and the quiet power of thoughtfully made spaces. Thank you for your hospitality Powers Art Center!
