Always be aware that tree failures can happen any time of year. We were called out to look at this massive valley oak failure recently. Luckily no one was hurt but the home took a beating. With proper pruning maintenance and routine inspection the risk of a failure can be lessened.

Palm tree pruning in Paso Robles. We were called out to prune this palm tree in Paso Robles . It had about 20 ft or more of dead fronds/ (palm skirt). The guys determined the best and safest way to do it would be to access it from the top down. This has become the preferred way to do it these days. Palm trees can be notoriously dangerous for tree climbers if not approached correctly.

Many climbers have had to be rescued or die when they are climbing from the bottom up. As they are climbing up and cutting the fronds, a large part of the palm skirt can slide down the trunk and pin the climber. He then can’t move his arms and can suffocate. It is a dangerous way to prune the trees and shouldn’t be done this way if there is a large amount of fronds to prune. Fortunately a lot of education is out there now to teach folks. I added a picture of a climber stuck under the fronds and a picture of a climber being rescued by fire department.

We had the privilege of working at the San Miguel mission. We had a large pine to remove over a historical wall. It was growing to close to the wall and was putting pressure on the wall. We utilized a crane to bring it down safely without any damage to the 200+ year old wall. The guys also put our protective pads over the wall just in case a piece got away from us. Great job guys.

We were called out to evaluate this redwood tree that recently started to lean substantially. Upon closer look, we observed new cracks and extensive decay. We discussed it with the client and came to the agreement that the safest thing to do would be to remove the tree. With our 75 ft tall bucket truck we were able to remove the tree in a safe and efficient manner.

We don’t often take 3 bucket trucks to one jobsite. But when we do, a lot of work gets done fast and efficiently! We were able to get this job done before the projected rains this Monday. Even after a small amount of rain we aren’t able to access a lot of sites. Great job Manuel, Ben, Ed, josh, Rey and Audi!

Another crane removal project today. This tree had sustained major damage during the recent windstorms. Due to this and existing problems the tree already had, it was time for it to go. It had become compromised and was a hazard. With the assistance of the crane it was done safely and efficiently. Great job Kelly, Tommy, Josh and Sam.

We were called out to remove these large eucalyptus trees a while back. Unfortunately these blue gum eucalyptus have many problems and can be very invasive. Also for safety, they had to go. The client had his large excavator on site so that really helped! Great job guys!

More tree emergency work. We removed this massive tree off of a building in Paso Robles this week. The tree broke off at about 20 ft up the trunk. We removed it with our bucket truck and crane. I would estimate that it weighed between 25,000- 35,000 lbs. great job Jose, Tommy, Eddy and Sam!
