Is your mouth watering yet?…We learned a ton, including how to graft pawpaw. Nerding out with a fellow plant enthusiast is always the best way to spend an afternoon.

Went to the Juniper Level Botanic Garden yesterday and witnessed the most jaw-dropping plant in flower: Puya coerulea var. violacea

Do you see those green spikes sticking out? Those are perches for birds to enjoy the flower nectar. This is the plant’s genius way of ensuring pollination 🀯🦜

Puya is native to South America. It is a terrestrial bromeliad, related to pineapples and Spanish moss.

It’s definitely on our plant wish list now!
