We still have good numbers of two species of pussytoes which are a native groundcovers. Both feature silvery-grey foliage which contrasts nicely with plants that are green in color. Pussytoes are quite drought tolerant and tolerate a variety of soil conditions. Plant them along a garden border or between stepping stones. Pussytoes are named for their distinctive flowers which resemble cat's paws. They will attract butterflies in spring.

Red-osier Dogwood, Cornus sericea is a medium to tall deciduous shrub which provides interest in the garden almost all year! In spring it offers large clusters of white flowers, which are followed by white berries in fall. Foliage turns bright red in fall. Over the winter the red stems continue to provide interest especially against white snow. This species does like moderate moisture and is not one of our drought tolerant shrubby species. However this allows it to fit in well in a traditional garden setting with more water. It may also be featured along a stream or pond. We have a number of these in stock that have good size and all are 50 percent off! We also have several in quart pots that are available at extremely reasonable prices ($5.00 each).

Blanketflower, Gaillardia aristata, is another species we have abundant numbers of in quart pots. Blanketflower is one of our later blooming perennials, generally blooming in July after the big spring bloom months of May and June. Blanketflower is deer resistant and a great species for attracting bees and butterflies.

Paxistima myrsinities, commonly known as Oregon Boxwood or Mountain lover is a common evergreen shrub in our area. It is a tidy shrub in the garden, it does not sucker or spread and is about 3 feet tall with a spread of 3 or 4 feet when mature. The new growth is bright green in spring and adds a lovely contrast to flowering shrubs or perennials. The deer will browse this species so it is best planted in a fenced yard or other protected area. We have a nice selection in gallon pots right now all priced 50 percent off ($7.50 each)!

Look at all these Shrubby Penstemons! We have 48 of these in quarts right now, priced to sell at $4.00 ea. This is Penstemon fruiticosus, one of our local native Penstemon species that brightens rocky outcrops each spring. While it is often seen in these habitats it will grow just fine in a well drained garden soil. This species is very well behaved in the garden and seems to be pretty deer proof once established. It's blooms attract native bees and bumblebees in spring.

Ever take a plant out of its container and find the root ball hard and the potting soil filled with roots? It's not uncommon as the longer a plant stays in one size container the more the roots take up the pot. We don't recommend you plant that plant as is but rather break up that root ball as shown in the images below. This is especially true if there are circling or strangling roots present. It's easy to treat these plants, put them in the ground and watch those plants thrive.
