The best advice I have heard this year about designing your home!

Instead of getting overwhelmed trying to plan out the interior of your entire house, think of individual spaces instead. Create vignettes.

Maybe start with a wall, or a hutch, maybe start with a coffee table. Add things to go with that, creating a series of vignettes, instead of trying to curate an entire space from scratch.

This is 100% true for me.

I never buy vintage based on what it is worth. I purchase based on how I feel about the item and if it is in our budget. I think this is what has kept me from having a cluttered home. I’ve walked away from a lot of things that although I knew they had monetary value, they didn’t have personal appeal for me.

I am currently hoping to find the budget for an 1800s tall slim secretary cabinet that we found at a local antique shop. I’m not sure it’s going to happen, but I took lots of pictures and will be on the hunt for something similar soon.

The aged bronze urn, plaid chargers and gold pheasants are from ANTIQUE FARM HOUSE . That green ruffled velvet tablecloth continues to be a favorite, and makes for so much drama in a tablescape! All of these items are linked in my ltk in bio.

Atlanta was hit hard with storms last night and we only recently have our power back. In this heat 18 hours without electricity is no joke, I had a headache most the day. I hope all of you are cozy this weekend and no one else is dealing with harsh winds and storms.

I would say I attended “the school of hard knocks” to learn how to decorate my home.

I am a multigenerational Coal Miner‘s daughter. Times were often lean, and we had to stretch the dollars we had. We did not thrift because it was trendy, we thrifted out of necessity.

But over time, it absolutely became a game to see what we could find for less, and the challenge to style my home on a budget.

Thrifting takes patience, and I always maintain a bucket list for items I would like to find secondhand.

I absolutely love my home, it is unique, it is full of personality, warmth, charm and character and it is…. Beautiful.

Everything that I have acquired to style my home is from the skills I learned as an impoverished coal Miner’s daughter attending the school of hard knocks in thrift stores❤️

Personality>trends

I am definitely all about supporting curating our homes with originality and character instead of fomo.

And I do find that it is a rush of dopamine, to style an area and look in on it and see how beautiful it turned out.
