🚨 BREAKING NEWS FROM POLLEN8 HQ 🚨

Alright, plant people, big update: Pollen8 will officially be closing its doors on March 1st. BUT HOLD UP—don’t panic and start ugly crying into your pothos just yet. This isn’t goodbye! It’s more like “see ya in a new outfit.”

I started Pollen8 with a dream of getting into the landscaping game, and now it’s time to dig deep and make that dream happen! The retail chapter has been a wild, plant-filled ride, and I’ve learned so much about myself—like the fact that I can keep plants thriving and occasionally, myself too.

How can you help with the transition you ask?

🌳 PLANT OF THE WEEK! 🌳

This week we’re going to India (in our imagination). 🥲
The Ficus Audrey has a truly captivating look and history, and it’s much easier to care for than other ficus varieties like the fiddle leaf fig.

Ficus Audrey aka Ficus Benghalensis aka Banyan Tree aka Bengal Fig (that’s a lot of nicknames) is the National Tree of India and legend has it that Buddha meditated under a Ficus Audrey tree and attained enlightenment. After seeing what the trees actually look like growing in India I can see why Buddha chose this tree to meditate under. The aerial roots reach from the canopy all the way to the ground and become supportive trunks. They can actually grow wider than it is tall!

Let’s talk about care. They love bright indirect light but not direct because it can burn the leaves. Allow the top 2 to 3 inches of soil to dry out before giving her a good drink. Be careful to not allow the soil to dry out completely! As far as repotting goes, it can live in the same container for years as it doesn’t mind being a little bit rootbound. The leaves are a fuzzy texture and can accumulate dust and debris easily. Make sure to clean them with a damp microfiber cloth (or our microfiber gloves we sell here at Pollen8) to ensure they are able to absorb the sunlight.

Indoors the Audrey can grow up to 10 feet. You can prune the tree a little bit to keep a shape that you want, but don’t overdo it!
