Estate sales are one of our favorite ways to find pieces with real soul — the kind of character you simply cannot replicate. But a beautiful patina does not always tell the whole story.

We have learned a few things the hard way (and a few things the smart way) about what to look for, what to ask, and when to walk away. Swipe through for the tips we wish someone had handed us on our very first Saturday morning sale.

Save this for next time you are out hunting. And tag your fellow treasure hunters — they will thank you!

Designing your own home is always a bit of an evolution. What started as a simple kitchen renovation for our principal, , slowly grew into a much larger refresh that’s still unfolding today.
This kitchen became the anchor for it all. The original cabinet frames and doors were saved and refinished inside and out — updated for how the space is actually used while keeping the traditional character intact.

A dentil mold crown nods to the original exterior architecture, and a palette of Farrow & Ball Treron and Old White across the cabinetry brings warmth without competing with the layered materials and collected pieces throughout.

It’s a space built for everyday living — morning coffee, the kind of cooking that spills over into conversation around the island, and all the quiet moments in between. We often tell our clients that gathering inspiration is the first step in any project. This one has shown us that sometimes the inspiration keeps evolving long after the first plans are drawn!

A little calm Atlanta landing spot for two very excited grandparents. 🤍

This home was designed as a retreat for quick visits with their new granddaughter, a place that feels special without feeling formal. We kept the palette largely neutral with moments of warmth and subtle color woven throughout. Soft textures, tailored lines, custom pieces and layered details make it feel polished but easy.

A butler’s pantry that’s tailored, hardworking, and ready for a full house! 🥂
Designed as the connector between kitchen and dining, this space conceals small appliances, stores dishes and glassware, and mirrors the vertical lines of the main cabinetry to subtly elongate the room.

We stepped the upper cabinets back slightly to keep the wall from feeling heavy, creating a quieter, more refined backdrop. A carbonated water tap and w**e fridge make it easy to host without ever leaving the conversation.

Each sculpture is hand cast to order and intentionally retains the marks, smudges, and raw texture of the creative process. A quiet nod to the romance of the Grand European Tour and the storied galleries of Chatsworth House, designed to feel collected rather than decorative.

Featured here within a recent Studio Wellington project we can’t wait to share more of soon!
