⚡ Texas thunderstorms can cause serious electrical surges. Storm season is around the corner. If you're unsure whether your home has surge protection installed, feel free to message us ⚡

Lightning strikes and sudden power spikes can damage appliances, electronics, HVAC systems, and even electrical panels.

Two ways electricians help protect homes and buildings from storm damage:

✔️ Whole-home surge protection installed at the electrical panel
✔️ Lightning protection systems such as lightning rods and grounding systems

These systems help redirect dangerous voltage away from your electrical system and sensitive equipment.

If you’ve ever had electronics damaged during a storm, it may be worth installing surge protection before the next one hits.

⚡ Specialized Electrical Installation for a Horse Treadmill ⚡

Here’s a recent project where we installed power for a commercial horse treadmill that required 480V 3-phase electricity.

To make this work, we had to build the system step by step:

✔️ Installed a new 240V single-phase service to the building
✔️ Added a phase converter to convert single-phase power to 3-phase
✔️ Installed a step-up transformer to increase voltage from 240V to 480V
✔️ Finished with a dedicated 480V panel to safely power the equipment

Projects like this require careful planning to ensure the correct voltage, safe operation, and reliable performance for specialized equipment.

If you need electrical work for commercial equipment, three-phase power, or custom electrical systems, our team can help.

⚠️Not All Panel Problems Are What They Seem⚠️

This week, a homeowner was told by a big-name electric company that his panel was overheating and had to be replaced — for double the usual price.

We came out for a second opinion and found:

🔍 A high-end, modern panel
🌡️ Normal temperature readings (~90°F)
🔩 Tight, solid terminations
☣️ Minor corrosion from pool chemicals stored nearby — not an emergency

This is why panel inspections matter.
Whether you’re dealing with:

✅ Overheating concerns
✅ Aging or recalled panels (Zinsco, Federal Pacific)
✅ Planning a major upgrade (like SPAN smart panels)
✅ Mystery issues with lights or breakers

At ADP Electrical, we assess before we recommend — no scare tactics, just facts.

⚡️ Why Lightning Protection Shouldn’t Be an Afterthought ⚡️

A home in our 2,600-house community was recently destroyed by a lightning strike — a painful reminder of how vulnerable modern homes can be, especially those with solar panels and sensitive electronics.

The good news? Lightning rod systems combined with whole-home surge protection can significantly reduce the risk of fire and costly damage.

At ADP Electrical, we see this as more than just a service — it's peace of mind.

✅ Safeguard your home
✅ Protect your electrical systems
✅ Reduce risk of fire damage

If you’re not protected, now is the time to act. We’re here to help you make your home safer — before the next storm hits.

⚡ Spring Storms Are Coming – Is Your Home Protected? ⚡

Last year, a neighbor had a lightning surge that fried all their appliances. Their builder-grade surge protector failed because it only handled 5,000 amps—while lightning surges can reach up to 100,000 amps!

At ADP Electrical, we install high-quality surge protective devices that exceed those limits and come with manufacturer warranties up to a lifetime and coverage up to $75,000 in damages.

Don’t let a storm leave you with costly repairs. Get real protection installed by a professional.
