May be my favorite thing in the world, making parts on a machine thats 150 years old. Finding them, fixing them, understanding them and then using them to make parts for houses that are nearly as old as the machine.

Looks stately. Takes a good picture. Took a bunch of labor. Should be much easier to maintain for the next 100 years. Boiled linseed oil and turpentine is used to seal the raw wood. Repairs were made west systems 655 and window trim was skimmed in it after repairs. Siding seams were repaired the same way. All new material is Sapele.

Looking good. Like its looking great. I am pretty darn happy with this. I need to finish the BloTerp and west systems on the window leg trim, make 4 wider blind stops so storms aren't sunk in from casing edge, make soffit presentable and hang new sign. The brackets (center one has been replaced) look like new, proud of how those turned out.

Stripping is hard work. No one was even tossing dollar bills at me while I was doing it either.
Could a coat of paint sufficed? Maybe, but for how long? If this is done correctly now, it will be much simpler to maintain for the next 100 years.
It will be much easier in 15 years when I have to put another coat on and it will be easier to recognize the areas that are prone to water issues down the road. Thank goodness for people who appreciate this stuff and are willing to have this stuff done the way it should be.

First time anyone has seen this wood since the building was built. Going to have to evict a couple birds soon as well. Get this stripped, mix up some west systems 655, fix the bad spots, sand prime and paint. The soffit is going to just have to be good enough, can't hardly justify stripping all of it. New fascia boards are ready to install as well.

Ash flooring going down. Only get an hour or so each evening to work on it, but progress is progress. Look just like the floors that were there for 135 years prior.

Just something right about and old building and real wood screen doors. Takes me back to a simpler time, a time we will never have again.

Depot photo dump. Last 4 weeks of my life on the west end of the building. Lots of time, effort and sweat. The biggest visual change is always the openings, doors, windows and details. Spend the time on those and no one notices any imperfections you may have left. Found so many initials carved on this end of building. Time for the front side.

What a dumb amount of work that has gone into this room so far. It started with blue carpet, a dropped ceiling, crappy old wall paper and plaster that was falling down.
3 new walls, one new window, drywall, paint, millwork, etc. Turning the corner to completion soon.

Let us turn your space into something timeless.

This is the home project that never ends. Its getting closer though.
