Feeling stuck WHILE you're building, adapting, changing, growing is the worst feeling we can experience. You may know what you want and even have a vision, a plan, a task list to get there. BUT that's not where you are....yet.
And because you know what you want and where you want to go but aren't there yet....it can make you miserable.
Especially when you see other people who are already where it is you're wanting to go. At some point, most technicians (including business owners stuck in a truck) come to the conclusion that they want to...
A. Try something else to make a living at. 🥹
or
B. Do whatever it takes to get out of the field. 👏
I mean at this point no matter how tough today is or yesterday was you're deep in the game. You can't make the kind of money you make now if you switch careers. At least that's the case with most.
SO what option does that leave you with? I know and you know that if you've decided to choose option B, that's when all hell breaks loose.
At every attempt to actually work on business building s**t it seems the universe opens a black hole (called emergencies-lack of clarity-distractions-challenges-obstacles) that suck you back into the truck. You may want out of that mother so bad but every damn time....SUCKED BACK IN. 😳
Like the abused trying to leave the abuser. 🤕
SUCKED......BACK.......IN.......
With that being said....you made the decision and if you've committed to it.....then keep going because if you don't stop you will get there. You will have to change the way you view these "emergencies".
You will have to change the way you respond to your team when they have challenges.
You will have to focus during the time you've scheduled yourself to work on the business.
With time and focus you'll find yourself having more and more time doing this building work.
Here's the kicker. This can take
A. 10 years.
OR
B. 2 years or less.
Which option do most choose?
Most go with option A. Not because they planned it but because that's how long it took to acquire the knowledge and implement enough so that they earned their way out of the truck.
I chose option A. It wasn't quite 10 years but 7 was enough. Especially since I'd already spent over 15 years in the field. I didn't plan on option A. That's just how it worked out.
Here's why:
I was lost when I got out of the truck. Had no idea what I should be working on or focused on.
I felt guilty when there was field work that still needed to be done and I was capable of doing it.
Running calls was my comfort zone and I wanted to stay there. I had no confidence in the office.
I made calls my priority because I wasn't making enough money. (being low on money hijacks your attention)
SO....if you know exactly where you are going and how to get there, double down on your focus and shorten the time it takes. If you aren't sure how to get there learn how as fast as you can. Double down on your learning to shorten the time it takes.
Just know it doesn't happen overnight and connect to that dream of yours so you have some emotional fuel when that next emergency SUCKS YOU BACK IN!
WORK LATE IF YOU HAVE TO
WORK FASTER IF YOU HAVE TO
WORK WEEKENDS IF YOU HAVE TO
GET UP EXTRA EARLY IF YOU HAVE TO
SACRIFICE IF YOU HAVE TO
You must conquer because if you don't you join all those who have lost that spark, that hope that fire to win. That burning desire to become that person you are meant to be.
There are 5 months left to make sh*t happen. Pick yourself up. Dust yourself off. Get back in there and conquer!!!!!!!!!

One simple marketing mistake that will make you literally throw thousands of dollars away!

A few years ago…

I had been working on these fancy new brochures for months.

The design was perfect

The copy was tight

And I was ready to order 5,000 of them...

Until I realized:

Our phone number and address were nowhere to be found.

They were buried somewhere in the design but practically invisible.

No one would know how to actually CALL US!

Listen, when you're running calls all day and managing techs…

It can be easy to miss the obvious stuff in your marketing.

That's why I created this simple checklist I use for everything now…

For every piece of marketing material you create (flyers, door hangers, vehicle wraps, business cards), always include the following:

✅ Logo (prominently displayed)
✅ Clear slogan
✅ Phone number
✅ Website & email
✅ Special offer (if applicable)
✅ Strong call-to-action
✅ Expiration date (creates urgency!)

Two more non-negotiables:

Make it DEAD SIMPLE to understand what you do.

I've received countless business cards where I couldn't figure out what service they actually offered.

That's just wasted paper and missed opportunities.

Two; ensure your designer uses vector files for your logo - this keeps everything looking crisp and professional instead of grainy and amateur.

Your marketing materials work 24/7 for your business.

Don't let simple oversights sabotage their effectiveness.

One of our students just did $280K... in January alone.

(That's more than some HVAC companies do in a year)

Here's what's interesting:

He was operating in a ‘flow-state’.

What do I mean?

He wasn't obsessing over sales targets or chasing random leads…

And he wasn't even working 80-hour weeks.

Instead, he focused on 3 things:

Building the right structure

Implementing solid systems

Managing the process

Let me explain...

Most HVAC business owners are stuck because they have high technical skills with low business knowledge and have zero systems

However, this creates two problems…

You are likely to get overwhelmed and anxious because you're going to face business related problems you don't know how to solve.

Also,

You get bored because your technical skills are high and at the same time you're not challenging yourself to grow.

The sweet spot is where your skills match your challenges.

This is where the flow-state happens.

Most owners believe they need better sales skills…

Or that they need to learn how to "overcome objections” to generate more revenue.

However,

The difference isn't sales.

It's service.

Let me break it down...

Company A runs three calls: $89, $0, and $652.

Company B runs three calls: $372, $680, and $1,420.

See the difference?

It's not about charging more for the same service.

It's about increasing your VALUE so customers are willing to pay more.

Think about it like this…

Your business rests on pillars - convenience, perceived value, fair exchange, and quality.

And guess what these pillars stand on?

YOU.

Your grit

Your character

Your determination

And your vision.

That's why all roads as a business owner lead to personal development. 🔑

When you become better, your service becomes better.

When your service becomes better, your prices can rise naturally.

Another difference between struggling and successful companies…

Look at their yearly calendar.

Struggling companies: Dead in winter,
overwhelmed in summer.

Successful companies: Steady business year-round.

And their schedules? Same thing.

Struggling companies: Completely empty or totally slammed.

Successful companies: Consistently booked with breathing room.

If you relate with the struggling components then you need to elevate yourself as a business owner.

AI or Service Titan won't save your business.

Rebranding won't save your business.

Nobody's coming to save you.

Only you can.

Once you understand this principle, your business can go from making a few thousands a month to 7 figures

However, the only unrealistic thing is thinking you can do it without help.

I was looking at one of my old YouTube videos…

And I saw this comment…

“I started my company, 5 years ago later I'm back to doing it by myself, the stress that a company owner goes through is not for everyone, i couldn't perform under pressure really, so many callbacks I just couldn't continue fixing other people’s mistakes it just wasn't for me”

Here’s my take:

Man, I get it.

I remember days when my bones would hurt so bad I couldn't even take Sunday service calls.

Truth is…

Nobody prepares you for this side of business ownership.

People are by far the hardest thing to manage in a company….

Especially when you care about them…

And they don’t reciprocate your kindness.

Being nice and kind can be seen as a weakness at times

And you get taken advantage of because of it

So how did I fix this?

Because I sucked at managing people…

I hired someone to take that stress off of me.

Looking back…

It honestly was the heaviest thing to deal with while building my company.

However, I am much stronger now than I was because of a skill that I had to learn

If you're struggling with team building right now, know this:

The struggle is normal.

The exhaustion is normal.

The doubt is also completely normal.

But giving up doesn't have to be.

Just saw this meme and thought I could share 😂

I'm not telling you to livestream yourself snoring for $16K.

But this hits different when you're in HVAC.

Most of us are stuck in the "time for money" trap.

You only make money when you're physically working.

That's why we're all burned out. Missing family time. Working endless weekends.

I was there too.

Then I built systems that pay me while I sleep…

Is it easy? Nope.
Is it worth it? 100%.

The difference between retiring at 55 or dying with a wrench at 75 isn't how hard you work.

It's whether you built assets that pay you while you sleep

Listen up HVAC business owners:

WITHOUT DELEGATION, THERE IS NO SCALING.

You may want to read this that again.

Your business is growing…

But now you're drowning in responsibilities.

You're the technician, the CSR, the accountant, the marketer, and the janitor.

It's like trying to run a restaurant where you seat the guests, take their order, cook the food, AND wash the dishes.

Eventually, something's gotta give.

The secret to breaking free?

Master the 3 C's of Delegation:

1️⃣ CLARITY

You can't delegate what you haven't defined.

Ask yourself these questions:

✅ What exactly is the role?
✅ How is it performed?
✅ Why is it necessary?

Without clarity, you're just throwing tasks at people and hoping they figure it out.

Then you wonder why they keep calling you with questions all day! 🤦‍♂️

2️⃣ CONTROL

This isn't about micromanaging.

It's about:

⚙️ Creating clear processes
🛠️ Regular check-ins and feedback
🔧 Setting up KPIs to measure success

When you nail this part, the chaos disappears. Everyone does things the same way, producing consistent results.

3️⃣ CONFIDENCE

This is where most owners mess up.

They never fully trust their team because they:

❌Jump in and do it themselves
❌ Never let people solve problems

As long as YOU have all the answers, YOU will always be the bottleneck.

You're actually preventing your business from growing!

Every time you say "I'll just do it myself"
you're choosing to stay small.
