I wish there were more than 5 stars to give. I'd give 10! Mo, the artist-craftsman-technician has such a great work ethic! He was punctual, efficient and very dedicated to the job at my home. I was tasked with getting a crack fixed on the apron from a patch job completed years ago when we bought the house. My contractor recommended Joy of St. Croix from word of mouth. So the crack ended up being wider and bigger. The outside needed to be redone across the 'apron' of the tub. Mo said now I could kick it with a steel toe boot (but I promise I won't). Today I have a new tub/shower combo that is extremely sturdy and looks as good as the rest of the bathroom upgrade. Mr. St. Croix, the owner was a "Joy" to work with all around. Very up front in his pricing and online website and they told me everything that would occur, from start to finish and were true to that during this past week. From the business side to the artistic sculpting, this company is fantastic. What a pleasure it was to do business. Thank you both for a wonderful experience. Love my finished product.

How a painter treats the preparation of the surface to be painted is a direct statement on how long the paint is intended to last. In bathtub refinishing the drain is the one area that will be contact with water the most and for the longest periods of time.
The drain is where your project will most likely fail - treat it seriously because it is the key to failure or success.

Refinished bathtubs are known for peeling at the drain. This is because the edges of the paint are particularly vulnerable to water wicking under and pushing the paint off through hydrostatic pressure. Joy of St Croix removes the drain basket, overflow cover, and caulking so that the whole bathtub is painted and the new edges are protected under new hardware and caulking.

OMG - Some of our neighbors are getting ripped off. This is the fourth "rolled on" bathtub since April (it is now July 1, 2025) that we have had to strip and refinish. At first we thought it was a handyman using DIY kits, but it is an actual refinishing company here in Augusta, GA that's doing it.
~
Folks, I know that our initial price seems high...but doing right saves money.
None of these customers got their money back from the refinisher - I'll have something to say about that in a blog post.
Importantly, They all paid for the rolled on finish, and now have to pay for it to be stripped off and then pay for it to be refinished properly.
I can only feel sadness for the people who were ripped off and can't afford to have it re-done. They now have a hygiene nightmare. This is not right.

1 - Identify your repair. This is a hole in a tub body. The crack is part of the hole because the damage needs to be cut out to refiberglass leaving a big hole.

THEY REJECTED US AS TOO EXPENSIVE AND DIFFICULT -
THEN HIRED US TO FIX THE OTHER COMPANY'S REPAIR

Once again, a "professional" bathtub repair company charged for a service they did not actually perform...and nothing was in writing.

Repair putty was smeared over a crack, as if that was supposed to magically repair the fiberglass structure. Well, it failed and there is no real enforceable warranty, so pay to have it redone.
