Orchids don’t need traditional soil to thrive! 🌸 Many orchids are epiphytes, meaning they naturally grow attached to trees and other plants for support—without stealing nutrients from them. Instead, their exposed roots absorb moisture and nutrients from the air, rain and surrounding organic material.

That’s why orchids are typically planted in chunky bark or moss instead of regular potting soil! Stop by Nick’s Garden Center in Aurora, Colorado, to explore our beautiful orchid selection and get expert orchid care advice. 🪴

Christmas starts earlier than you think in the plant world! 🎄🌱

During our behind-the-scenes tour of Blooma Farms, Sofia showed us tiny poinsettia plugs that are already being grown and prepared for the holiday season. Long before these iconic Christmas plants reach homes across Colorado, local growers are carefully planting, nurturing, and planning months in advance.

These small poinsettia starter plants will eventually grow into the beautiful red holiday poinsettias everyone recognizes at Christmastime. It’s an incredible look at how much time and care goes into producing seasonal plants before they arrive at Nick’s Garden Center in Aurora.
